Norton 360 sees my OS as Windows 8

I'm running Norton 360 on a Dell using Win10 Pro.  I recently (end of February) got a new shortcut on my Desktop from a Norton update.  Oddly the shortcut identifies my OS as Windows 8 -- at least in the disk address: "C:\Program Files\Norton 360\Engine\22.12.0.104\uistub.exe" /win8.  I went from Win7 to Win10 & haven't had Win8.

Correcting the startup option error in the address works for a little while, but (!) reverts to "win8."  Everything works, but it seems odd.

Hello Blaze7 I run Windows 10 Pro x64 also on a Dell laptop. Per my screenshot the desktop icon properties on my machine are the same as yours and I am on version 22.12.1.14

Same here Win10 Home x64. It's just a start parameter, apparently also valid for Windows 10, so leave it there.

@SoulAsylum  --  no solution.  Should I still mark it "solved?"

Both your reply and that of hvgsel were "It is wrong but just leave it."  It doesn't make sense and my emoticon didn't help communicate my sarcasm.  I can live with the error because it doesn't seem to affect function, but it's a flaw.  Does the "solution" 'just leave it alone' help others?  Maybe.  But really it sounds like it isn't going to be fixed.

Just tell me what to do.

Re: Norton 360 sees my OS as Windows 8

Just a guess, but i can imagine this :

1. Up till Windows 7 the Windows user-interface was traditional Windows, still building on the interface introduced with Vista or even earlier.

2. Starting Windows 8, the Windows interface has undergone major changes; Windows 10 is building on that Win8 interface.

So maybe the parm should be read as : 'From Windows 8 onwards'. I do not now what the parm on Windows 7 and earlier is; my guess is Win7..., or...or...Win95 .

But maybe the designer can shed some light on this.

I still do not think it's a major problem, as almost no user will ever ask your question and it is working and meant that way.

should be read as : 'From Windows 8 onwards'

ok, maybe that's correct, and it's meant to be that way . . .

I agree that it's not 'major'  and it is hard to find . . .
