I have read that Microsoft has forwarded the requirements to developers for the production of add-on/extensions for Microsoft Edge. Can anyone confirm this? If so, is there anything in development?
And just because they have forwarded the information, Microsoft still does not accept any add ons at this time. This is apparently changing with the upcoming anniversary update to Win 10. It does not mean all add on makers will have things ready and available immediately.
Awesome. Thanks for responding.
Hello Josh P
According to my son, I believe he said there were about 13 extensions in Edge now with the Anniversary Update. He received his tonight or maybe found it on his computer when he got home from work. I know I asked him how many extensions. He first said a handful, so I asked him if he meant 5. He said no and then counted them. Let's put it this way, it's around 13. I don't know if they are the correct extensions for Symantec to use.
I am sure that when the Norton Extensions are ready, there will be an Announcement or Blog about it.
Unfortunately Norton had posted this on a similar thread for the Firefox browser back on July 7th. (https://community.norton.com/en/forums/identity-safe-limited-compatibility-firefox-current-status?page=4#comments)
Jim, for this initial launch, this extension won't be compatible with Edge. There are no immediate plans for support of Edge. However, our overall goal is to be compatible with the browsers that people use, and this extension takes us in a more flexible direction for supporting other browsers. So at the very least, it's something we'll explore in the near future. That's about as specific as I can get, and I know that's pretty vague. Sorry.
Microsoft took time for making such as great OS and updates, let's give time to Symantec for developing a great and much awaited extension for us.
To my knowledge we do not know of any 3rd party AVs in the Microsoft store yet. Without some type of information on the process for publishing AV extensions or IDSafe for that matter we can't say how long it will take once we can be in the store. We anticipate a short turnaround once they let us know.

This at least is promising. With W10 Anniversary there are some extensions .Apart from a couple of adblockers they aren't much .All Symantec need to do is be the 1st kid on the block to have an extension available in the Microsoft store and they will pick up new clients who don't trust Defender but want to use Edge. Don't procrastinate or you will loose clients to whoever else gets there 1st.
It's not up to Symantec, it is up to Microsoft to allow Symantec to provide an extension for Edge. You can help by supporting the idea here - https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/15241830-at-least-allow-norton-extensions
I signed that thanks for showing it here :)
Well it looks like Symantec are the 1st on the block with an identity safe extension on Microsoft Edge available as of the launch of Creator. Now to continue the process to get the more useful extensions.
Well seems Norton forgot one thing the people from Comcast can't use that extension i just tried and its strictly the online vault way to go Symantec for supporting only online vault.
As mentioned, when I saw the announcement that Identity Safe was now supported in Edge I was skeptically optimistic, so I downloaded it from the Windows 10 Store. Sure enough, it appears to only work if you have an online vault. My vault will remain local!
Well, local vaults aside, my first day with the new extension has been very positive. It seems much quicker than the previous version and I like the link to login being right in the login field instead of on a bar. It was a heck of a wait but it seems worth it.
