Norton Antivirus Changes to Norton Secrity but still have norton antivirus.

Well this is kind of unusual since i've been using norton antivirus for years on windows and when i manually updated to the latest version it changed to norton securing and messed with the default windows firewall which worked fine with norton antivirus.

But for some reason windows defender security suite shows that actions is needed with firewall & network protections. Though only the standard suite of norton has the firewall and norton antivirus doesn't. Which is odd since when i did checked my subscription is changed from norton antivirus to norton security.

Has this happened to anyone considering i know renewed my norton antivirus subscription this year?

Re: Norton Antivirus Changes to Norton Secrity but still have norton antivirus.

Well when i did use live update to manually update to the latest version 22.12.0.104 from reading the update. seems to merge the products to a single layout though for some reason windows security center says for firewall and network protections. "Actions needed in norton antivirus" It was fine before i did the manual update using liveupdate. I think the update thinks i have a third party firewall but after the patch. The default windows firewall is on still but thinks i'm using norton security standard but using norton antivirus.

I'm not sure if contacting support will help with this issue since it's not an urgent issue but something that really should'nt be happening. I could post a screenshot of the problem if needed.

Hi Ross364T,

It appears from your comments you have already seen the following info, but will post just in case you have not seen it from Update Announcement here:

https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/norto...

Introducing Single Layout

  • What is Single Layout?
    • Single Layout is a process improvement that is focused on enhancing the customer experience when the customer wants to shift between different product offerings without the need of uninstall and reinstall.
  • Note: You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version in all the operating systems (Run LiveUpdate until no updates are available)

Have you run LU as noted above?  Have you rebooted?  You may desire to go to Help on the main page of Norton and select Get Support - let it run and see if it fixes anything.  Also in Help I would do a Subscription Status check - just to see if it changes back  to Norton Antivirus.

Yes, a screenshot is always helpful.

If you open your NAV and click on Settings, Do you have firewall settings greyed out, or can you access the Firewall settings.

What happens if you click Turn on now in your third image?

Nope there's no firewall setting since i've been using norton antivirus. The firewall was windows default when settings messed up so i used the remove and reinstall tool to remove and reinstall norton again. Now have it back to the latest version from the manual liveupdate. Yet the windows defender security center thinks norton antivirus has a firewall but really should'nt at all.

Hi @Ross364T,

Could you please try what @yank recommended?

Note: You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version in all the operating systems (Run LiveUpdate until no updates are available)

A few LiveUpdates and re-boots could sort this out - Please let us know if works.

Also i am suspecting that product update is causing the issue since i got the update from the latest version norton anitvirus basic to the 22.12.0.104 version. Since the standard version comes with a firewall. Cause i never had any issues before with norton.

You're not alone in this. There's a similar thread going on here:

Hi Everyone,

We have released a hot fix via LiveUpdate for "Windows Firewall shows Norton Antivirus turned off after Norton 22.12.0.104 update". Please run LiveUpdate and let us know if you still see this issue.  Thanks

Re: Norton Antivirus Changes to Norton Secrity but still have norton antivirus.

Hello Sunil just removed and reinstalled norton again after hearing about the hotfix to see if it worked.

Still have the issue with the firewall and network protection but the disabling of the firewall issues is gone so far after a few restarts and a shutdown. So norton antivirus thinking that's there's a firewall not taking over the windows firewall. Is gone so far.
