Norton AntiVirus Plus for Mac - feedback

Does anyone know if Norton AntiVirus Plus for Mac is having the same problems as Norton 360 - since the 8.8 release?  I was thinking about removing 360 and trying Plus.  360 has features I never use and I'm wondering if they aren't contributing to all the trouble we're having.

The Plus side of Norton 360 for Mac is the VPN, but the NAV plus is fine as a program.

I have never used a VPN because I use a slow DSL connection and don't want to make it slower.  Why do you use a VPN?  Maybe I need to rethink my priorities.
