How did she uninstall the app?

Make sure you set app lock to lock the Android Settings.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton App Lock Uninstalled

Let's confirm a couple of settings.

  • The App Lock by default is set to lock the App Lock app itself.
  • If you go to App Lock and tap on the three bars at the top left, be sure that you have activated the Device Administrator setting just below the Settings line.
  • As you scroll down the list of apps, at the bottom of the Recommended section is Settings. Lock this to protect the Android settings from being accessed, which will stop access to being able to uninstall apps.

There have been a couple of users here that have found ways to get around App Lock, and it is possible your daughter might have found one of these.  If you can set up App Lock again and ask your daughter to show you how she is uninstalling it. If she will do this, it can help us understand what is wrong.

What version of Android is on the phone?

Re: Norton App Lock Uninstalled

Ok so she showed me how she is uninstalling the App Lock app- when she touches the screens the widgets are in boxes and she drags the app lock into the trash bin,

so how so stop her phones ability to do that ? so frustrating

Re: Norton App Lock Uninstalled

If that is all she is doing, she is not uninstalling the app. Just removing the icon from the home pages. You can verify this by going into Android Settings - Apps and look in the list for Norton App Lock. If you see it there, it is still installed.

To access it, you can tap on the all apps icon from the home page and scroll through the pages to find the App Lock app.

You can also verify that the app is still installed by trying to open an app that you protected with App Lock. You will still be prompted for the PIN for App Lock.

Re: Norton App Lock Uninstalled

She has an Aristo LG

I reinstalled the app ad yes I set up the device administator  with a pass code

When she presses the screen, then widgets, you can then click the trash can in the upper right corner, the app lock app shows with a small x on it, if you then click the app, it says  - "this widget and its associated app and widgets will be uninstalled"

you then hit uninstall and thats how she gets rid of it - its not just the icon on the screen but it totally uninstalls the app, evidenced by the fact that she can get int the settings and has adjusted the time and date on the phone

Re: Norton App Lock Uninstalled

I stand corrected. But it looks like it may be related to the specific device or Android version. I cannot reproduce what you are seeing on my phone.

What Android version is on this phone?

I will pass this information to Norton. Thanks for sticking with me on this.

Re: Norton App Lock Uninstalled

@krismarie

My contact says they cannot duplicate the issue on any of the devices they have access to. They ask that you contact Norton Support and ask them to gather logs for this issue. They can take remote control of your phone and duplicate the issue, then take the logs for analysis. Be sure you make note of the case number they give you, then post it back here. I can then pass that along so the correct team can follow up.
