Norton App Lock - unlocks itself ? - is there an Audit Trail available?

We are using on over 50 Samsung tablet devices nationwide the free Norton App Lock to prevent the users (truck drivers) to use any  apps there are not supposed to use (eg: youtube, internet).

We have enabled the admin lock as well, but we can see at random checks that Norton App lock is disabled. We have several times enabled it, changed the passcode, restarted the devices and it works for a while and when checking again, the Norton App Lock is switched off again.

Is there an Audit Trail embedded somewhere to see when it was switched on and switched off again?

Is there another product from Norton available (paid is fine too) which has the same features, but works ALL the time ?

There is no logging that I know of.

Is App lock getting disabled, or just some individual apps being unlocked in App Lock? Be sure when you set up App Lock that you lock the System Settings. That should stop the users from being able to bypass or disable App Lock.

The App lock gets disabled - which gives the user access to any app which was locked.

Yes we make and made sure the system settings are locked as well. The enabled admin lock prevents the user from "accidentally" uninstalling the Norton App lock and be able to use any app after.

As stated previously, the Norton App lock works fine (as intended) but suddenly it is disabled without any intervention from the user. We have test devices (spare) with exactly the same spec's and set up and we have experienced the same behavior.

On your test devices, have you been able to determine when or how it gets disabled? How long have you been seeing this behaviour? Does App Lock get disabled again after you reset it?

What models are the tablets, and what Android version is on them? Did they just get an OS upgrade?

So far we could not pinpoint when Norton App lock gets disabled. We have seen this behavior for a couple of months now - and started to enable the admin lock in November 2018 - but it is still happening.

we have changed the passwords and even did 1 device factory default settings reset, installed the required apps, locked it again and a few weeks later Norton App Lock was disabled again.

The OS was not upgraded.

Maybe time to contact Norton Support to see if they have any information on this. They may know how to find any logs that might be on the device.   www.norton.com/contactcs

I have contacted them before and as Norton App lock is a free software they do not offer support and referred back to here.

That means neither the Norton Support or Norton Community can provide a suitable answer/solution to a fundamental issue (which makes it useless) of one of their products?

Unfortunately, in your case, the Community is run mainly by users who volunteer to help others from our experience with Norton products.

I'll see if I can get one of my Norton contacts to look in on this thread.

I heard back from my contacts and apparently this issue has been resolved with a new version that is in the process of being released. Please look for an update to version 1.4.0.448 and then test.
