Norton Backup

I have been using Norton on my laptop for close to three years now. About a month ago, my computer started to progressively get slower. I ran Norton Backup just before I sent it away to Best Buy to be fixed. It turned out that the hard drive stopped working efficiently so a new hard drive was put in and thus, I had to start up my laptop from scratch again. I have the original Norton C.D. that I used. I am just wondering that if I put the C.D. into the computer, will the Norton backup show up automatically or where would I go to find my backup? Thanks.

Re: Norton Backup

Hello apace,

Did you use online backup built into the Norton 360 product or a separate purchase of Norton Online Backup?

Re: Norton Backup

I believe I used it under Norton 360. I ran a backup by going into the Norton program where it gives you the option to run a scan as well as other options. I chose backup files. I don't believe I went online anywhere. I ran the backup just because I knew I was most likely going have to get a new hard drive, which actually happened. So now, I have the same computer, but a new hard drive, so I am starting from scratch. It was under Norton 360 though.

Re: Norton Backup

Take a look at the below knowlegebase article. This should help you re-attach the old set to the new computer. You can then restore the data once its complete.

Cannot find backup sets when I try to restore files in Norton 360

Note that once you start a restore it may take a bit of time to complete. It has to re-compile all of your data from the various incremental backups performed. If it sits at zero percent in preparing its not an error but is working. Best to start it and let it run unless it specifically errors out on its own.
