Hello amazon. Download and run Malwarebytes. It looks for certain things that would otherwise be missed. Generally these coinminer issues are related to website cross-site code being injected and go away when the sites have been left. MBAM should get you straightened out.

Thanks I have already done that before I saw your reply - yes malwarebytes has stopped it - except i have ended up with the 14 day trial version of MWB  so i am hoping at the end of the MWB trial it will revert to the free version and still stop the bitcoiner norton alert from showing

@amazon

Should Soul's suggestion of runnning Malwarebytes not get rid of the notifications, you can go to the main UI > Administrative Settings, scroll down, and turn off any notifications you don't want/need.

Reboot after running MalwareBytes, just to be sure.

right thankyou NF I have kept your message after MWB trial runs out - if it comes back I will do as you say

Re: Norton blocked an attack by: System Infected: Bitcoinminer Activity 7

All: These bitcoin mining infections largely come from websites visited and will disappear once you leave the site. However continued visitation runs the risk of becoming infected with malware which will run "resident" on the system. I would think one would want to be alerted of the attack or attempt at infection rather than dismiss the alert on its face as an annoyance. As F4E has posted in another thread its gotten serious. https://www.zdnet.com/article/brutal-cryptominer-crashes-your-pc-when-discovered/

Ad blocker extensions in your browser used to help with this kind of attack. Not sure if they would still be effective against this latest attack type. Still might be worth a try.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
