Norton blocking bank account login on IExplorer

Today I tried to log into my bank account as I usually do in Internet Explorer, but as soon as I started typing in the login box, Norton popped up a notice "Unauthorized Access Blocked (Access Protection Data)". I closed Internet Explorer, reopened it and tried again and got the same message. What does this mean? Is Internet Explorer compromised? Is it safe for me to log into my bank account? Thank you for your help!

There must be unnecessary add-on installed on your IE11 that might cause you to see, UNAUTHORISED ACCESS BLOCK. Let me know if this gonna help you.

Thank you. I have only the Norton toolbar and Java add-ons. Do you think one of these is causing it?

I see from this that the problem is that something is trying to access/write to a Norton file? I don't have any other anti-virus installed, would it be something that is a part of Internet Explorer? I was able to access the banking site using Chrome without getting the pop-up.

Great than. I too use only IE11 for my banking works, and I usually disable java both plug-in and add-on. There wouldn't be any hijack or alike. It's safe don't worry.

Do you need Java plug in.  Why?  If you don't need Java.  Remove Java or disable Java when not using. 

Java can be a security threat, and if you do not need Java, do not install it on your personal computer. If Java is not installed and you come across a website or program that requires it, you will be prompted to install it at that time. I suggest that you only install Java from the official website. When installing Java, set it to automatically update. Since Java runs on PCs and Macs, hackers can write Java programs that can infect most every computer surfing the Internet today.  Keeping Java current and patched is critical to computer security.

Did you actually get a pop-up warning about the access block?  I have never heard of that happening, as these are Norton Product Tamper Protection events that occur in the background.  They are logged and should not have prevented you from logging on as you intended to do.  Can you please clarify if this was an alert or a logged event?

Yes, I did get a pop up warning (it didn't prevent me; I could have still chosen to log in but I didn't feel comfortable after seeing the warning). I clicked something like "more info" I think it said at the bottom of the pop up window and it took me to the log where it was also listed. I just tried it again to see if it would do it again but it didn't give me the warning or log one. No idea what would have changed unless something updated?   ???
