norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

Norton seems to be blocking Xbox app server connectivity on Windows 10. I have uninstalled Norton and Im able to connect to multiplayer but when I reinstalled it blocks it again. Any way of solving this issue?

side note: This has only started happening about a week ago. I have gone through the troubleshooting step Xbox give out and they didnt work.

GBorge98. Reset the Norton firewall, reboot, then reconnect x-box. The firewall SHOULD see the new connections and make those entries accordingly. If there is an error please post that error screenshot here as floplot suggested so we may review it for you. Let us also know what you are seeing in the Windows 10 X-box networking area in settings per the screenshot below.

Re: norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

Did you click the "FIX IT" in the X-box settings? If so what were the results? Did you REBOOT after resetting your Norton firewall? Also run Live Update on your Norton product to get the newest release, it may be available for you.

Edited: You could try clearing the cache on your console hard drive. To do this, go to settings > system settings > storage, then while over hard drive, tap 'Y' and click clear cache. PLEASE NOTE: This will erase any game updates as a side effect.

Re: norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

I clicked fix it and restarted, no joy. I restarted after clicking reset firewall, no joy. Norton is up to date as well. I'm on pc not console so cant clear cache.

edit: Was you able to see the screenshot I took on the previous post? not sure if it worked or not.

Re: norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

Yes your screenshot was clear and crisp. Clearing the X-box console cache is the next step. Have you also performed the steps in this xbox solution guide?

Re: norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

It will be under "Network Adapters". Click that, then go to the top and select "show hidden devices". Then "scan for new hardware".

Re: norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

Ok, this MS article MAY help. That being said, I have followed the steps and the registry key stated does NOT exist on Windows 10 . Let me stress their disclaimer: Perform at your own risk. I would contact Microsoft Support, they can initiate a remote session and correct the issue for you. THIS is the approach I suggest for you.

Re: norton blocking Xbox app server connectivity

Hello again. I'm following up on your status. Did you contact MS and have they corrected the issue for you? One thing I forgot to ask is whether your network connection is set to public or private. In your Norton history check for any entries like the one (find one that is a PRIVATE network entry) in the screenshot below. Click TRUST and reboot your machine.

Cheers
