Norton Core and Z Wave devices

I currently have a secure home with ADT. All of the detection devices, light switches, thermostats, camera, AC wall sockets are Z Wave devices. Will they be detected by the new Norton Core so that the devices can be controlled remotely? Will the detection work while the existing ADT Controller is operating or must it be disconnected first?

Re: Norton Core and Z Wave devices

If a device connects to the internet, it will be protected by the Core device.

So it if a web cam is directly connected to the internet,it is covered by the core. If some device is controlled by the ADT Controller, the ADT Controller would be protected directly by the Core device, and by association, the devices connected to the ADT Controller are protected.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton Core and Z Wave devices

FWIW, I doubt that you'll find it necessary to create any special Firewall Rules on the Core in order to accomplish satisfactory operation of your ADT system. After the ADT system is connected to the Core, Core should have no difficulty detecting the ADT Controller's need to Internet / Local-LAN interface (for its remote/local monitoring & control functions). This is irrespective of whether the Core to ADT communication is done via LAN (direct wired network connection to the Core,) or via Wi-Fi (wireless to the Core,) but please note that (in the case of Wi-Fi interfacing,) the ADT system will need to be programmed with the Core's Wi-Fi access credentials.
