Norton Core can not locate a particular website IP via android phone

Within the past couple of weeks, I get the following error message only when using the wifi of the Norton Core with my android cell phone. If I use my PC, it can reach the website via Norton Core, and if I use the LTE on the cell phone (that is disable the wifi), the cell phone has no problem locating the site. So is this some sort of issue with the Norton Core?

Error displayed on the web browser:

This site can't be reached

www.dailymail.co.uk's server IP address could not be found

ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Again, works fine on PC, works fine on LTE, but not with WiFi. Norton Core router is my only WiFi router.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I have had the same problem intermittently with Wikipedia and the Huffington Post. Works on our PCs, but not on our phones using Core/WiFi - works fine on LTE.  Norton DNS with Core has major problems.

Re: Norton Core can not locate a particular website IP via android phone

I had a issue that sounds like this one but with my apple phone. I could access a web site on my laptop on wifi but not on my cell phone using the wifi.

I had to power off the core for about 5 mins. Then let it reboot took about another 5 to 10 mins. I did not attempt to log into the core with my cell phone until after that time.

I was able to access web pages and the app store that i was not able to reach before as well.

You may want to change to your service providers DNS until Norton says they are stable again.

Thank you,

Re: Norton Core can not locate a particular website IP via android phone

I am seeing this issue since December 21st on my PC and phone. I reset the Norton Core to factory default and reloaded the last firmware update (Dec. 19th). No change.  I believe the problem is not in the Norton Core, but the Norton DNS service that the Norton Core depends on.

All: As RR255788 had suggested. Change your Core DNS to your ISP, your Core should reboot. Recheck for your issue being corrected. Norton secure DNS seems to be having some hit and miss issues for some areas still.

I had an issue with accessing three .org sites on my and my wifes android devices while on WiFi while having no problems what so ever on my PC. I tried what RR255788 and SoulAsylum suggested in changing the DNS setting to ISP and that has resolved the issue for now.

Re: Norton Core can not locate a particular website IP via android phone

Hello All

There has been an update to the Android Firmware to Firmware 226 and the App was updated to 1.28. This update seems to have helped connectivity due to DNS drops. After this update, I changed my DNS back to Norton Core DNS from ISP DNS. I haven't found any issues in the 2 days since I changed the DNS servers.

This update was just for Android. cellphones. Perhaps it will help you customers.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Thanks for the update Valoc.

@edcpro  Under the newest Core firmware the site you referenced in your original post opens on my Galaxy Note 4 using Edge browser, using Core DNS values. Cheers

Re: Norton Core can not locate a particular website IP via android phone

Hi SoulAsylum,

Not sure when firmware 226 was done, but I have not been using the WiFi on my Norton Core for the Android since I reported the issue. I just tried the WiFi on the bad websites and it appears to be working just fine. The main issue that bothers me about this, is none of my PCs (Windows 7 and 10) had an issue, and they were always on WiFi, it is just our two Android Cell Phones that had this issue. So if firmware 226 is responsible for it now working, that would be great. As I said, I was not using WiFi on the cell phones when web browsing so do not know when this was fixed/started to work.

Re: Norton Core can not locate a particular website IP via android phone

Hello again Steve I'm certain ver 226 corrected that specific issue due to having similar URL issues on my smartphone as well. Those have disappeared totally since the latest firmware on the Core. The firmware coupled with the correction of the cloud based DNS services that gave us fits over the holidays did the trick.

Cheers
