norton core changes from using 5.0 to 2.4

I have this ongoing issue seems something and or Norton core is deciding on its own to change from a connected to 5.0 connection to a 2.4 connection why?????????

I do have the switch set for both to use same name and password I also have a printer unable to use3 5.0 so its I guess on a 2.4 yet if im connected pc wise to 5.0 it will print off a document from my pc! so how do I stop this as at times I check internet connection and shows 2.4 and a channel of zero! and no internet if this is supposed to be a better router and safer impressed with it I am not.

Re: norton core changes from using 5.0 to 2.4

Hello Maxie. Your issue is due to having the same SSID and password for both the 2.4 & 5.0 networks. Rename them separately and assign separate passcodes to each. Reboot the Core and let us know how things are at that point.

Re: norton core changes from using 5.0 to 2.4

need clarity if I change the ssid and password for the 2.4 so printer will get wifi connectivity how does my devices connect to printer to print something off if they are using the 5.0 ssid connection?

also do I leave connect using same id for both enabled or disable that feature?

I always err on the caution side of changing things!

Re: norton core changes from using 5.0 to 2.4

as they say try it and see so I changed the 2.4 ssid for 2.4 and p word disabled the use same for both 2.4 and 5.0 and tried with printer on 2.4 ssid and pc on 5.0 and it printed a test page so Thank You for that helpful tutorial now lets see this internet connection change by itself!

Re: norton core changes from using 5.0 to 2.4

Hello again. Disable the check box for use the same SSID and password for both the 2.4 and 5.0 networks. Assign NEW SSID's that are different for each side and make the passcodes different as well. My personal rule with Core is ONLY streaming devices requiring the extra bandwidth the 5.0 side provides are connected to that side of my Core wireless. IE: Smart TV, Roku, etc. Everything else I put on the 2.4 side since the 5.0 has a shorter transmission radius than the 2.4. Change your printer wifi to connect to the newly assigned 2.4 SSID, as well as all your computers, phones, tablets, etc. They should work correctly as before.

Re: norton core changes from using 5.0 to 2.4

@ Soul Asylum  since changing the passcodes for both 2.4 & 5.0 things are better so this issue can be marked as solved. I kept same name for both just a passcode is different for each now.

thanks for the help on this
