NORTON CORE HARDWARE SET UP -- AGAIN

Our power went out for two days right in the middle of Norton Core Setup. While the app is set up on all my devices, hardware had to be disconnected and now need to be reconnected. I have Verizon internet, phone and TV, so have to have it for everything. Currently have coax and ethernet cables to FIOS router. Can I simply reattach the hardware -- e.g., insert the Core hardware between the FIOS router and my computer?

Re: NORTON CORE HARDWARE SET UP -- AGAIN

If you just had your router replaced, then I would just put the core between your router and PC and move all the ethernet device connections to the core. I would have the core powered off until the rewiring has been completed.  Power on and see if the amber light turns solid white.  Test your devices to make sure it has internet connectivity.

I would at this point make sure the Core set to use DNS from the ISP.  I do not know if Norton has their DNS fixed.

Re: NORTON CORE HARDWARE SET UP -- AGAIN

Hello Marjorie The best thing to do it begin anew with the setup. I have FIOS as well WITH TV and VOIP phone. On the FIOS device, if it is wireless enabled I have its wifi disabled and allowing DHCP to remain active as disabling it will kill your TV and VOIP services. Next I connected Core to LAN port 1 on the FIOS device then to the WAN port (with blue globe icon) on the Core. This will give you a warning when the setup is complete that "Core has been connected to another device that is routing traffic" or similar statement. This is a NAT-NAT setup and normal so just Ignore it as it IS normal for your setup as it was mine. Once Core is setup create both your 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz wireless networks and use two separate network names and passwords. Connect all your streaming devices to the 5.0 and normal usage devices to 2.4. This will prevent network bandwidth over stressing.  Set your Core DNS to ISP as CST1 has suggested as well. Let us know how it works out for you. We are here to assist.
