Norton Core IPv6 support?

Good afternoon everyone,  I installed my Norton Core (NC) yesterday and its running good so far via IPv4.  Very fast speeds and all my devices were detected just fine and are being monitored according to the NC app.  However, when I went to IPv6-test.com and ran a check there its showing that IPv6 is not supported.  Im running through Norton's recommended default secure DNS in Core and all the Cores firmware and or software updates have been applied yesterday evening.

The IPv6 site after the test is ran shows:

DNS

DNS4 + IP6Unreachable

DNS6 + IP4Reachable

DNS6 + IP6Unreachable

Browser

DefaultIPv4

FallbackNo

Pv4 connectivity

IPv4Supported

Address (I deleted this address for privacy)

Hostnamec-(I deleted this address for privacy).hsd1.co.comcast.net

ISPComcast IP Services

IPv6 connectivity

IPv6Not supported

Address

Type

SLAAC

ICMP

Hostname

ISP

So Im a bit confused as to why IPv6 is not working or available in core?  Does Norton Core support IPv6 currently and if not will a firmware update support IPv6 later in the near future?  Any help in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Dave.

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

Did you have IPv6 working with your old router? If not, your ISP needs to support it before your router can use it.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

Dave run your test from here: http://test-ipv6-ct.comcast.net/ Please note that IPV6 is not the internet standard as of yet.

Comcast/Xfinity site states they are rolling out IPV6 and upgrades to their hardware will be automatic. I am on FIOS and they too report IPV6 is NOT yet a standard for residential customers. A rollout is also expected without any ETA.

Answering your question concerning CORE. In the Core user manual there is nothing indicating IPV6 support.

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

Thanks Soul.  So your Comcast link above produced these results below.

----------

Test your IPv6 connectivity.

Your IPv4 address on the public Internet appears to be (I deleted this out)

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) appears to be COMCAST - Comcast Cable Communications, LLC, US

No IPv6 address detected [more info]

You appear to be able to browse the IPv4 Internet only. You will not be able to reach IPv6-only sites.

To ensure the best Internet performance and connectivity, ask your ISP about native IPv6. [more info]

Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have IPv6 Internet access.

----

It also should be noted that my former ASUS router connected just fine here on my home internet connection from Comcast to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, and the test sites reflected that as well.  Since disconnecting the ASUS router and switching to the Norton Core router I can now only run/connect to IPv4 addresses/sites as the test confirms above.  So its the Norton Core that is the issue I believe.

Hi peter web.

Yes, my former ASUS router connected just fine here on my home internet connection from Comcast to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

Dave My FIOS router DOES indeed support IPV6, it was disabled for some reason. I apologize. Certainly since both ISP's support the protocol CORE should as well. I am contacting Core Support USA with this question and a definite answer.

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

Update: All - Speaking with Norton Core support they tell me that IPV6 is indeed NOT supported in the Core Router. I also asked whether a firmware update to enable that is in the pipeline with their answer as being "Not at the present time". The reasoning is that IPV6 is not at the present time the "standard" internet protocol being widely used.

Hope that answered your questions appropriately. Please feel free to contact Core Support at the number listed in my screenshot.

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

Thanks Soul.

The rep at Norton I previously talked to earlier this morning before posting this question said IPv6 was supported by Core but later recanted that response during our call and said she was not sure and they would look into it.  "They" haven't got back to me yet, but your answer here confirms what I now suspected that IPv6 is not supported.

Thanks so much for your time investigating this issue and providing valuable information!  What a great community here!

Re: Norton Core IPv6 support?

I was surprised to find out that the Core does not support IPv6. It took me several days to find this posting in the Forum. It's a shame that I have spent so much money on a router that has reduced functions when compared to other available AC2600 routers. I am a Comcast customer that had a secure IPv6 connection with my Linksys AC1900 router. I was looking for more speed and bandwidth with the combination of Norton security in a router. Not only did I preorder it back in June, but nowhere in any of the ads or spec sheets did it mention that IPv6 would not be supported. Where do I sign up for a return and refund?
