Norton Core router

Since I purchased a product to deliver a function and the company is discontinuing its function I believe I should get a full refund for the router it self.  I don't believe its fair to the consumer, that when it was sold it would provide a service with no time limit. Now we are informed that it will no longer function.   The correct thing to do is to let it still be functional as a router but with no updates or support. until the unit stops working.  If this is not possible a refund should be issued for the unit to accommodate a replacement.  I like the product and the service as a loyal customer hear my voice.

Re: Norton Core router

Hello Fireonly. There are several threads in the Norton Core boards where the EOL issues are being discussed. I've requested for your post to be moved there so it can get the correct exposure. Thanks.

Re: Norton Core router

I just purchased a TPlink AX21, all told $105.00. I would be happy with that. I agree and am sure a class action suit will follow. The security cost of $120.00 a yr just became $150.00. I think I will add a chain and leg iron to the old Core showing I broke free and can now search for something more affordable. On a lighter note, Norton sent a notice that Robin hood Financial had a data breach. I think the Sheriff of knottingham could have seen that one coming

Re: Norton Core router

I have YET to receive any email message from Norton regarding Core replacement offerings. I cannot imagine WHY as I too am a Core owner. I went with the TP-Link AX21 as well for the time being. Replacing it with Core no later than the end of December, sooner, if the app stops working or Core goes bonkers for some reason. As far as a class-action being presented, that may indeed happen. I personally don't think it will due to customers wanting to just move on from it. The brand reputation hit that follows will do more than any class action would ever achieve. And the worst part of it is it CAN be prevented.

Re: Norton Core router

You are right about just moving on. As odd as this sounds, with the Core gone I feel naked. Weird thing happened. I have two Samsung tv's, 65 & 49 in size that were connected through wifi, I don't have television service other than antenna in the attic connected to Tablo DVR, anyway the wireless dropped and would not reconnect. All devices were fine and connected via wifi. I could run an ethernet line and that was fine and connected TV to internet. No matter how I went about it, the wifi connection was gone. Well on that same day I got a notice from TP-Link about a firmware update. Ran it. Now tv's work. How's that for just in time.

Re: Norton Core router

As a replacement for the Core security subscription, I'm looking at Norton Security Ultra. Unlimited device protection as annotated in the article. It meets the same cost replacement for the Core subscription as well. Please ensure you read ALL the footnotes provided if considering this product. I've also asked whether this is still an active product because the pricing article is a year old. With this sub and a good replacement router it should meet and exceed the requirements for my network and protection of the devices I need protection for. Your CHOICE of a router and protection mileage may vary of course.

Edited: Woot has yet another awesome deal going for TP-Link.

Re: Norton Core router

Update: Norton Security Ultra is not available to the general public. Its a "partner only" exclusive offering. Off to the races once again to find a A/V solution for more than 20 devices that won't cost a months wage to purchase.

Re: Norton Core router

What partner, and what restrictions to purchasing the Ultra option?

Did you try to purchase it? I just googled the product and came up with this link, where I was able to add the product to my cart.   https://us.norton.com/products/norton-security-ultra

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton Core router

The partner(s) aren't listed. However!! This article suggests a partner code / challenge code to remove devices from the sub, its only logical that one would also be required the same to install. MAYBE I'm missing something? On-boarding is where I think the partner code will be asked for. And yes it also allowed me adding to my cart, populated my account into after log in. I DID NOT input CC info and move forward from that point though.

Edited: Acer appears to be a partner - https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/norton
