Norton core router bridge mode

Hi, how can I set the Norton core to bridge mode? I was told by Norton  before I ordered it will have bridge mode setting  so I can use my old Router and use the core as in-line Intrusion Prevention In DPI

Thanks

You do not set the Core in bridged mode, or you might as well not have it. It would not protect you if it were bridged.

Who ever told you may have misunderstood your question and was thinking of the information that SoulAsylum linked to.

peter per this article is states it is possible to do a bridged setup. As you stated why would one want to do so when Core doesn't protect the secondary network?

Cheers

Re: Norton core router bridge mode

Not sure exactly what the OP is asking, as there really would be no need to use another router in front of, or behind Norton Core unless you wanted to do some advanced special-purpose networking.  The Norton Core article describes how to set the existing gateway modem/router combo to bridge mode, not how to set the Norton Core as a bridge.  This would apply only to a modem/router combo, not to a router only.

Yes it does. And that KB says how to set the ISP's router/modem into Bridged mode. The OP asks if they can put the Core into bridged mode.

Re: Norton core router bridge mode

Linking the article was to clarify that Core doesn't have that setting or mode in itself. That was the intent.

There is no core under ATT, can I use instructions for a different router?

AT&T knows nothing about the Core. Those instructions are for putting the modem/router from AT&T into bridged mode. You then attach the Core to one of the modem/router's LAN ports.

Re: Norton core router bridge mode

So I use instructions for a random router on the list? I already installed the core that's how I knew I had multiple networks. Do I need to reinstall core or just put modem in bridge?

Some of those bridge mode DSL modem options on that page are not even valid or supported. All of the DSL modems I've seen in service were PPPoE with no support for PPPoA with DHCP.

Can I use my old Netgear N600 wifi router in repeater mode with the core?

That would be awesome, since I have dead spots in my house!

I already know how to setup the Netgear in repeater mode, just if Norton Core would support it!

Thx

Re: Norton core router bridge mode

Have you just tried the Core on its own? Reports I have read note that the coverage is better than some older routers.

Yes, I've been running on it for a couple weeks now. I figured if I put my older wifi in THAT room, would be awesome!

Honestly, IDK if he's getting a low signal or what, but he's complaining that since I installed the Core, all his video streaming is extremely choppy, to where before it wasn't at all choppy!

Let me add, nobody else is experiencing choppy video, even the one further yet. IDK, he's only in the next room. Possibly too much stuff in the wall? IDK

Re: Norton core router bridge mode

If nobody else is complaining, it is more likely something local on his machine. See if other users can go into that room and check the streaming.

Re: Norton core router bridge mode

I checked it out my self. It gets a VERY good reception and I watched a movie on it w/o any chopping!

So, IDK what he's talking about. It may be, he's watching the same time everyone else (all over the web) is watching, thus getting bug down!

I'm done messing w/it!

Thanks for  your help!

If you still want to help diagnose, try watching the same content while the other user is seeing this lag. If you see no lag it is definitely something on that user's computer.
