Norton Crypto not showing up

Hi there,

i have the same problem as a lot of other people do. Norton crypto just won't show up.. I have installed the latest update, pc/windows/gpu all meets the requirements.

What to do? Tried everything, clean install, restart over and over.. nothing..

Thanks in advance!

Re: Norton Crypto not showing up

There are some GPU cards that are not viable for mining. While they are designed to be good at gaming, they are expressly set to be LHR (Lite Hash Rate) and unsuitable for crypto mining.

If you want to look up your exact card, first find the vendor ID and device ID, first find the device ID with one of these links:

NVidia(link is external)

AMD(link is external)

then use https://www.pcilookup.com/(link is external) to see the full description, if you see LHR, then it is not suitable for mining

Norton Crypto has probably decided that your Graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements.

If it does meet the minimum requirements then maybe the program is not picking it up for some reason. What are the specs for the GPU  you have?

Re: Norton Crypto not showing up

I just received a new gaming machine and have a 3070 graphics card.  I downloaded Norton360 and have version.22.21.11.46.  I do not get the link to "In the My Norton window, under Turn your PC's idle time to cash, click Show me how.".  This P.C. more than meets the mnimal requirements.  What is the issue?

OK, that might explain it.  It appears it is GA104 [GeForce RTX 3070 Lite Hash Rate].

Re: Norton Crypto not showing up

I followed your instructions to get my graphics card's Device ID/etc.  I found that my graphics card has Device ID: 10DE 1401 (and eight more digits).  It is described at PCILookup as "GM206 [GeForce GTX 960]".  The bracketed part of that name matches what nVidia's Control Panel shows.

Note that there is nothing like a 'full description' for ANY of the cards listed there.  And there is no "LHR" or "Lite Hash Rate" for any GeForce GTX 960 card.

So, how can I find if my graphics card is 'acceptable' to Norton Crypto?  If it's NOT acceptable, how can I find why it is not?

Re: Norton Crypto not showing up

Ah!  NOW I see why my graphics card is not 'acceptable' for Norton Crypto.
It only has 2GB of memory!  Plenty for my normal use, but Norton Crypto wants at least 6GB.

How about adding a 'Can this computer run Norton Crypto?' button somewhere?  If the system is not 'good' enough, that button would display the EXACT reason(s) Norton Crypto is not available.  AND in that case it would NOT offer the option to install Norton Crypto.  If a later hardware update (new graphics card, etc) occurred, that new button could be used to re-check eligibility.

Re: Norton Crypto not showing up

M Broida, thanks for the suggestion, we don't need a button to see if can run Norton Crypto that is already done and will show the tile if it actuall can mine.

The EXACT reason for not being able to mine is that your GPU is either not an AMD or NVidia and or it doesn't have at least 5GB of memory. The 5GB is determined by the size of the DAG. By august of this year it will surpass the 5GB mark.
