Norton Crypto on Win 7

I want to run Norton Crypto on an old machine. I made sure to check the System Requirements which are shown here: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v138388461

I had a Video card with only 4GB and the CPU was lower than 1GB so I purchased a compatible card and CPU to meet the requirements. They are installed and working but Norton 360 doesn't give the option to start mining. Here is the pertinent system info:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (SP 1) with SHA2 support
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X3 720 Processor, 2.8 Ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
8GB RAM

I feel this has met the requirements and I'm a little frustrated with the outcome. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Is your Windows 7 32 or 64 bit? Your link above shows a 64 bit OS is required.

Did you install your 360 after the physical upgrades to your system. If not, try reinstalling your 360 with the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool from    www.norton.com/nrnr  . Use the Advanced Options > Remove Only. Then restart your computer and log into your Norton Account and download and install a fresh copy of 360.

FWIW ~

There are some GPU cards that are not viable for mining. While they are designed to be good at gaming, they are expressly set to be LHR (Lite Hash Rate) and unsuitable for crypto mining.

If you want to look up your exact card, first find the vendor ID and device ID, first find the device ID with one of these links:

Thanks for the suggestions. It's 64 bit. I used the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool as suggested but still no go. I am also using that exact Video card on another machine and it is mining away. The other machine is running Win 11 and is pretty beefier.

Matt,

All I get is "There are currently no items to view for this category".

You should see a gpu check line on every reboot.

Re: Norton Crypto on Win 7

Matt,

Well maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I assumed you meant the logs within MyNorton. I went to Norton 360 and opened 'Device Security', then 'History' and at the "Show" drop down menu selected 'Crypto Mining'. That's where I see "There are currently no items to view for this category".

I also restarted a few times to see if anything populates but nothing. I'm not sure if you know that I have never seen "Turn your PC's idle time to cash, click Show me how" on this box like I did on my other PC's. I'm still actively trying to figure this out and appreciate your help. Please let me know if I was looking at the wrong logs. I also attached Logs.pdf after a few restarts to show you what I am seeing.

Thanks again!

Hi Matt,

I'm hoping you didn't give up on me?

Thanks,

We have not seen this behavior before. Can us send me a private message with your email and I will have someone take a look from our side to see if we can see anything.
