Norton family blocks all browser web access since latest upgrade

I get the following message everytime I try to access the internet from NIS ever since the latest update. I am running Windows 7 and IE 11. IE is the default browser.  The message is as Follows:

Norton Internet Security could not start your default Web browser.
Please verify that you have a web browser installed.

Have you made any changes to your Norton Family settings? Have you rebooted since the latest update? Can you access the Internet with any other browser?

I somehow put this under the Norton Family topic, but It is just the Regular NIS. I am not using the family feature.

I have rebooted and I also get the same message with Chrome as my default browser

mbmill, if you are getting the same message with both browers, you could try going to the Norton UI, and checking Network/Smart Firewall/Program Rules, and setting thebrowser permissions to Allow.

If this doesn't fix the problem, it might be worth using the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, which will give you a fresh install.

Run Live Updates, until no more are found. The link is below

I used the Norton removal tool and then reinstalled NIS from my manager. After a couple Blue screen failures It came up OK and appears to be working properly.
