Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

My son discovered a glitch with the Norton Family Tablet App that allowed him complete access to the internet in which he was able to search and download things onto his tablet.

I have the Internet Explorer blocked but as he describe he opened Internet Explorer and hit the back button three times which glitched the Norton App from blocking anything in which he was able to have complete use of the internet.

I tried to report this to Norton at which I got a 'call back' and I couldn't understand the guy at all...Very bad English and heavy accent. Sorry.

Please fix this bug or tell me how I can fix it.

Re: Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

Hi Arily,

Thanks for sharing the information with us.  Can  you please let us know the following and we will check the issue further?

1. What version of Norton Family is running on the machine?  To find the version number,  please go to your Android device, click Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> Norton Family.

2. What version of Android is running on the tablet?  To determine what version is running on your device, select Apps > Settings > About phone or About tablet.

Thanks

Katie

Re: Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

Hi Arily,

Regarding to the question you have in your private message, what we want is before the child "hits the back button", he receives a block page first when he tries to access a forbidden website.   If you could try to access a forbidden as the child and send us the block page before you hits the back button, that would be helpful.  I've send you the instructions on how to send the screen shot.

Thanks

Re: Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

Arily,

No problem. I thought you probably didn't read the private message, so I send my last post in the thread.

There is an issue where sometimes on hitting the back the child can view the blocked page, but on further navigation the child will be blocked again.

Can you please check again if NF completely stops blocking after the back button, i.e. NF does not block any page visited by the child subsequently?

Thanks

Katie

Re: Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

After hitting the back button three times and it stops blocking, it doesn't block anything else until the webpage is closed and reopened.

Re: Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

Arily,

Thanks for the update.  Just want to make sure I understand it correctly, so when you said "until the webpage is closed and reopened".  Does it mean the forbidden website you were able to visit will be blocked if "reopened"?

Thanks

Katie

Re: Norton Family Tablet - Glitch

Yes the whole internet will be blocked again including the website until he glitches it by doing the back button three times.
