Norton Firewall Compromised?

Bit of a strange one this...

When I go into Norton Firewall on my MAC the padlock automatically unlocks and even when I lock it again, a few seconds later it unlocks. No intrusions have been detected and I have fairly rigorous application blocking in place and have disabled all types of sharing. Further a full virus scan has revealed nothing. Am I being paranoid?!

Thanks

Stephen

Re: Norton Firewall Compromised?

This is actually normal behavior, but you are not the first to find it disconcerting.  See this thread, for example:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-for-Mac/4-1-changes-lock-behavior-changed-for-antivirus/m-p/174164/highlight/true#M1656

The behavior will be changed in a future version.

Re: Norton Firewall Compromised?

To clarify a little, the similar behavior added to NAV was reverted in NIS 4.1.1 (NAV 11.1.1), but Firewall still behaves this way for admin users.

Re: Norton Firewall Compromised?

Many thanks for this - good to know! My MAC was recently compromised resulting in my wife's bank account being hacked which is why I bought Norton IS for it - being extra vigilant!
