Norton Firewall problem.

Hello,

I am having a problem with Norton Firewall. When i want to add an app to Norton Firewall to allow to reach the internet, Norton Firewall dont let me do it. It give me this error: "Error connecting to settings. An error ocurred (Connection to SymSharedSettings daemon lost) trying to read or write the settings. Please try to restart your computer. " When i restart and try to do it again i recive the same error. This problem occurs when i manually want to add an app.

I am using Mac OS X 10.5.6 and i get the same error with my iMac (Late 2007) and with my MacBook Pro (5.1).

I will appreciate a lot any help that you could give me.

Thanks,

Marcelo.

Re: Norton Firewall problem.

I have been trying to fix this without any luck :(. I find out that after i get the error message if i close Norton Firewall and launch it again i gey another error messgae that said that the application is running but it can not respond and that i have to restart the computer and if the problem persist i have to re install the application.

Well, i will wait if someone here have any idea of how i can fix this. Thanks,

Marcelo :)

Re: Norton Firewall problem.

Hi Marcelo,

Not sure what's going on - could be a corrupt settings problem. Can you open Console.app (/Applications/Utilities) and look under the CrashReporter triangle to see if there are any logs for SymSharedSettings or SymDaemon?

Please reply to this thread with any crash logs.

Thanks!
