However, it appears to run backups OK by right-clicking on the tray icon and then selecting a backup job (it's running now, I won't know if it completes until tomorrow morning).

Any ideas?

Hoping for another solution besides delete and re-install...

Try running the FixInstall.bat file as administrator.

Re: Norton Ghost 15.0.1.36526 crashes on launch

Ironically enough, I had this same problem a few years ago but forgot what the solution was untl I found it on a Google search:

Norton Ghost 15: "Error in Main. Configuration system failed to initialize"

http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/Norton-Ghost-15-quot-Error-in-Main-Configuration-system-failed/td-p/431330

In both cases, apparently the user.config file had been corrupted. Deleting it (and letting the program re-build a new one) seems to have fixed the problem (and I'm going to put that in my Troubleshooting Notes for future reference).

Re: Norton Ghost 15.0.1.36526 crashes on launch

Great! that's fixed the problem.

So simple if you know how.As described I just deleted the user.config file, in the Symantec directory, and restarted Ghost normally. Wish I had found this answer before going through the faff of unistalling/re-installing etc.

It worked perfectly many thanks.
