Norton Halt have to re-setup every now and then

Hi

I have the latest norton halt but every now and then when I check it says I have to setup again. I do this and then all seem ok. Then I check it in a few days and it says i have to setup again.

Hi gouws.

Not sure I understand this problem, can you post a screen shot of the "good" and "bad" screens?

If you need any advice on capture or posting just ask.

So within halt the button says "set up". After set up it says "turn off protection". Thats all fine but then every now and then if i check halt the button says again "set up"????

Re: Norton Halt have to re-setup every now and then

Thanks for the clarification gouws.

So it is the USSD Exploit area that contains the issue.  Which is where I think you had a similar problem previously.

Can you just confirm what version of HALT you are using and when you think this problem began to reappear?

And have you any idea how long it takes to recur?

I look forward to your update.

Thanks gouws.

As 5.1.0.110 came out on 26 June the problem has not been going on for too long.  I will try and draw it to the attention of the team.  Can you say roughly how many times it has changed in the last two weeks?

Re: Norton Halt have to re-setup every now and then

Look folks.  I am one to check and recheck apps.

Just to be certain before joining in on this topic, I checked and rechecked Norton Halt 5.1.0.119 on my Samsung Galaxy S5.

Eleven (11) times within a twelve (12) hour period, Norton Halt 5.1.0.119 had to be set up again and again and again and again,.....etc...

Absurd!!!

Either we can rely on our Norton products, or ... well.

On top of that are the little snippet ads telling you to purchase NIS to complete protection.  Excuse me. Does NIS or should I say Norton Halt know NIS is already present, loaded and running along with it?

But then, one has to ask, if Norton Halt wants to remain inactive, how can anyone be sure NIS is actually protecting us from anything except an overload of resources and battery drains?

Come on, Symantec.  I have been using Symantec products since you came into existence.  Surely you can offer us more peace of mind.

There are other apps coming along that are reflecting better results, less usage of resources and even lower battery drain.

I, for one am not ready to re-learn security apps, so get off the duff and fix these annoying but totally insecure items in your security apps.

Forgive me, but don't apologize for problems beyond your control.  We are paying for protection.

We should feel secure in our purchases.

Hi Task2507.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

I can tell that you are irritated by the way Norton Halt is performing but I am unclear as to what the specific problem is, and I am also not sure about your second post, so forgive me if I miss something.

Can you tell us which version of Android you are using?

Are you able to describe (and ideally post some screen shots) what exactly is happening?

Without a better understanding of what your problem is (my Halt does not seem to need constant resetting) it is difficult to advise you what to try and difficult for the team to "fix" any inherent issue.

As for the add, I was only aware of the single line at the bottom of the screen if you scroll down and that quite logically reminds users that they may need more than just Halt.  Are you seeing something more intrusive?

Do I take it you are referring to notice of purchasing NMS. NIS cannot be installed on phones.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

I think that the banner at the bottom may in fact refer to Norton Mobile Security (NMS) or Norton Security antivirus as it is currently called in Google Play.  This works alongside Halt and can be used in a free or paid version.  Halt itself I believe is free.
