norton icon change

I pretty much stick to Norton antivirus types ...I have used more than on Norton antivirus type...ie Norton 360 ..Norton antivirus...whatever...anyway...I purchased two laptops and with one of my laptops Norton was newly purchased....my laptop had windows 8 on it...well, I upgraded to windows 8.1. after doing that and adding all the updates....my Norton icon in my bottom toolbar changed how it looks....is there some reason for this. and when I open it up...the look of the open window for it..doesn't look the same....it looks cheap....or not like it should look or was looking....if anyone has experienced this let me know...and why you think this is happening or is there something I need to do. I don't care that it looks like that...but....for some reason....it looks off.... thanks

Re: norton icon change

phew....I didn't understand what you meant....so I decided to go to search on my hp 8.1windows and put in to stop the fast start up...and it gave me a site and bang it came up and it said...to go to the start up screen...which is the one with all the apps..and use the search thing next to my name and put in PO BU ..I did and when I did that...some stuff came up which is changing whatever...I went there and bang..i was told what to do in the first search...so I just unclicked the fast start up from that...I thought it might be just hookedup to the control panel but not so.....but that crazy PO BU....ok...I did it...thanks so much...I might do my other laptop. I have one laptop 17in hp amd envy dv7 notebook....it is suppose to have what it takes for games and entertainment...of which I don't need at all....basically I love good pictures and a fast moving computer...it was on sale at sams so I got it...then later I decided I wanted a smaller computer that movedabout with me...so I got another hp envy 15.6 or whatever size but its smaller and its an INTEL....I don't know that much of a difference except when I had to update it...after 2yrs of not using it...whoa..tons of downloads and it had to change some things bios ....I don't know what that was..then update to the 8.1. the difference in windows 8 for me was....that when I moved my cursor to the top of the screen....windows 8 did nothing...in windows 8.0 ...a little toolbar came down that allows you to either miminmize the window or cut it off with the x......hhahaha...simple enough right....Im an old person...but started working with computers when there were no computers....when all computers were based on no internet...I hated it so I never messed with it...my husband did and loved it...then when the internet came out and email....bang...I was in its face....and it was also just connected to the telephone lines...what a pain...I downloaded all the free isps or whatever its called...freeweb and Walmart web....I had about 5 of them on my machine..and when one was slow I got on another...so to see it evolve to what it is now is amazing...however its slowly going over my head...I learn something new every day....and now in our world everything is done by computer....which is good but also bad.....thank you for your help..im sure I will be on here again...this machine im on now...has the reservation for windows 10....my other one doesn't but is ready...I hear bad things about downloading it that it will break windows...well, if it does then windows or Microsoft will have to fix those broken computers and for free...lol

Re: norton icon change

I never read the announcement referenced by bjm. Get Ready for Some Big Updates

Get Ready For Some Big Updates!

https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/norton-protection-blog/get-ready-s...

Sounds awesome.

Have there been any additional changes this week?

I downloaded what I thought was the latest version very recently from my account and a version check said I had he latest version BUT I did not notice any changes to the look of the GUI.

Re: norton icon change

Hello hok

The version check is only for when the program changes from version 21 to 22. This time they considered 22.5 to be a new version. Most likely the next version update would be to 23. Then the version check will tell you if you are up to date.

It will not tell you if you are up to date for day to day updates or if it goes from 22.5.0124 to 22.5.2.15. You will see Announcements in the Forum when new updates come out that will change your version number. It didn't change in looks from 22.5.0.124 to 22.5.2.15. That version update was mainly to fix the errors from the previous patch. If you read the Blog Announcement, you will see what was fixed in the current version. Thanks.

Re: norton icon change

well, my icon on my bottom tool bar is what changed a bit...the one on my desktop is fine...the one that changed on the bottom toolbar....is still the circle that is yellow but I not a darker yellow like usual...and the check mark has like a black check mark and a white one in the green color on there...but they are off....not seeming like the icon when I downloaded the Norton on my machine...it changed when I updated from windows 8 to windows 8.1. ....and I was trying to get it back...well, I did do what I was told at first....stop my machine from starting up fast....that start up fast thingy...but it didn't change the icon in the bottom tray....well, we shall see when windows 10 gets downloaded...I was told that it would be like an update on our screen...and then we would have to download it or open it up...unless we have to do it automatically....I haven't backed up my machines yet...I have two laptops...I am going to get two of those sticks that will let me do that....unless it gets downloaded without me doing that...my other computer doenst have my reservation for windows 10 on it yet....

Re: norton icon change

The Windows 10 installer will ask you to configure some settings. It'll offer you the option to customize the settings or to choose what Microsoft calls "express settings." We'd recommend clicking customize — it won't take more than a couple minutes longer, and there are some options that you may want to change.
