Norton Identity Safe

I am using Norton Security Deluxe since many years privately and professionally. Since March 2018, I am getting more and more frustrated about that last update of Identity Safe. This upgrade is a good example of poor software development and testing, and I know what I am talking about.

  • I have several websites where I have the choice of different logins. However, Identity Safe prompts only the first five options. The others, I have to search manually in my vault.
  • On approx. 40 % of the websites I use, Identity Safe does not even prompt me the possible logins. Again, I have to search for it manually. Afterwards Identity Safe suggests saving the login. BUT IT IS ALREADY IN MY VAULT!!!
  • The vault closes each time when my browser is closed. Why? According to a Symantec employee:
The new extensions are designed to close the cloud vault when a browser is closed. This is designed as a security measure in case you walk away from your computer without locking it. This way no one can open your browser and have access to your logins"
Please let the user decide when the vault should be closed. It's his/her responsibility.

Why change a perfect working, good and thorough extension to a mess like this upgrade?
As I read on the community forums, I am not alone with my frustrations. I communicated with Norton helpdesks and they all agree with my comments. But despite this nothing changed.

When can we expect a new upgrade that makes Norton Identity Safe again a product Symantec could be proud of? Or should I go back to paper and pencil to file my more then 240 logins, as for the moment it is more efficient.

Re: Norton Identity Safe

I agree with the user regarding all that he/she states.

I have a new issue that just started a few days ago.  My banking websites mask the password with asterisks and when I login Identity Safe thinks it's a new password and keeps asking me if I want to save the new password. This is really annoying.  Anyone out there experiencing the same issue?

I just tested this with a site I have multiple logins for. When the multiple logins are displayed, I have a scroll bar on the right where I can scroll through the options.

I have similar problem.  I sometimes have to retype exactly what is disguised by the asterisks.  Could it be the website that causes this?  and I agree with the other comment - Please let the user decide when the vault should be closed. It's his/her responsibility

Hello

It's the website's doing. I have seen this done and I don't use Norton's I D Safe. They are also trying to protect their website and the hacking of passwords. With all the breaches that are happening, everyone is trying to protect their passwords. The sites, after all don't want their websites hacked into also. Not everyone wants to protect their own laptop and want the website to protect them.

Have a Nice Day and

Thanks.

The new I-D safe in the new version of Norton Security Deluxe just plain sucks. How in the Hell are you to protect your credit card numbers.

Even with the scroll bar not all options are shown although I can retrieve them in my vault.

Hello, I don't fully agree. If you use IE the logins are prompted, if you use the same website with Google Chrome the login is not prompted anymore since the new update of Identity Safe. Before the update the logins were prompted on all websites. So I don't believe that since the new upgrade these sites simultanously changed the protection.

Re: Norton Identity Safe

YvesRobeyst  Yes I was able to confirm what you observed. In Google Chrome it didn't ask me if I wanted to save the new password, but in Firefox it keeps asking me if I want to save the new password when in fact the password didn't change.

What options are you referring to? For a login you are offered the username and password. For a form you are offered the form fill information when you click on the Norton icon in the form fields.

Re: Norton Identity Safe

Peter-  can you address my issue. For certain sites(Bof A), everytime I login using Firefox, Identity asks me to save the new password but the password has not changed. no problem in Chrome or Edge

What is the version of your FF ID Safe extension are you using?

B of A site seems to have caused some trouble for many users with ID Safe. Some have found that clearing the FF browser cache has resolved their issue.

If that still does not help, you can report the site again to Norton explaining it is only FF you are having issues with. From your browser, click on the ID Safe icon at the right of the browser address bar. Then be sure the vault is open. Then click the icon again, then on the 3 dots at the bottom right. Then click on Feedback and submit the web site information.

I mean, if I have several different logins for a webpage not all the login are shown, even if the scroll bar is shown.

Also on several websites, the form fill information is not working to fill in my coordinates.

I do not mean to be disrespectful here, but are you using the scroll bar to scroll through the rest of the logins for that page? One thing I noticed if you are referring to the list shown when you click on the ID Safe icon on the browser address bar, because you are scrolling through all the logins in your vault, the scroll bar is very sensitive and easily scrolls down 8 or 10 entries. I tried just clicking on the little down arrow at the bottom of the scroll bar. If you click on the ID Safe icon in the Login box on the web page, only the logins for that page will be shown and the scroll bar is not a sensitive.

Also on several websites, the form fill information is not working to fill in my coordinates.

If the form fill does work on some pages and not on others, you can report the non functioning pages to the ID Safe team using the same info I gave mradding for reporting issues with specific login pages not working.

Yes I was using the correct scroll bar next to the login fields. But strangely the problem seems to be solved. As a few days ago only 4or 5 of the 8 entries were shown, now I can see them all

How can I reach the ID Safe team directly?

The reporting function I listed will be directed to the ID Safe team. There is no direct link to them.

Here are the directions again.

From your browser, click on the ID Safe icon at the right of the browser address bar. Then be sure the vault is open. Then click the icon again, then on the 3 dots at the bottom right. Then click on Feedback and submit the web site information.
