Norton Internet Security Identity Safe no longer accepts password

the online account does, the safe doesn't. it stopped working on my wife's login months ago and has now stopped on mine. I am faced with having to go back to 2011 version, but seeing as I paid for the 2012 version for three pcs, none of which now work properly, I feel horribly cheated.

I run windows 7 64 bit on laptop and pc

Welcome

You say the online account works. Do you mean logging into your Norton Account, or using an online Identity Safe vault?

What version number is your NIS? Support - About.

Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton Internet Security Identity Safe no longer accepts password

version 19.7.1.5 The online account, yes. Neither local or on-line vaults work for my wife. I completely removed the software with the removal tool, rebooted, reinstalled on both machines. Laptop now runs online vault on my login ok, but still does not recognise my wife's. PC runs local vault on my login ok, but does not recognise password for online vault. Wife's login still does not work.

As there is no way to backup the online vault to local storage, I cannot get the changes I made to my vault back on my pc. Am really annoyed.

Running live update, btw, until all updates were done and rebooting did not help.

any suggestions gratefully received peterweb.

Re: Norton Internet Security Identity Safe no longer accepts password

Hi MarsBuggy,

I am not sure if I unsderstand exactly what all is going on with your two systems - but I'll give you something to try and see if it works.

First on your wifes, PC - you stated you removed, ran the removal toll and reinstalled.  Ity sounds like you lost your log-ins by running the removal tool.  Thus your wife needs to setup ID Safe.  From main page of NIS > Settings > Web > Identity Safe > Identity Safe Setup > configure+  This will launch an ID Safe wizard in order to set up her  account, follow the wizard thru and then clickon Create.

Once her ID Safe account is setup, open your on-line vault using the ID Safe icon on the Norton Tool Bar, select Options > Export.  This will export your log-ins, when it aks where to export to - select a thumbdrive that is already attached to your system.  Once complete with the export, go back to your wifes system.

Insert the thumbdrive, log into her ID Safe using the ID Safe Icon on the NTB and go to Options > Import > slect the location of the Export file from your system and then you can use either option for while importing data - unless you have added something, there should not be anything to merge or replace.

Hope you follow that - please let us know if there is anything I missed in your post.
