Norton INTERNET Security renewal questions

I am renewing my Norton INTERNET Security subscription ( Not Norton Security)before it runs out in the next few days  and I have a few questions.

  1. Is RENEWAL  of Norton Internet Security still allowable?  I know you cannot purchase it any longer but can you renew the subscription
  1. I am not sure about the renewal process. I am thinking I open my Norton product and then click the renew button. That should take me to my Norton account. And there I find my renewal option, place my order then pay. And it should confirm my purchase?
  1. Then after my purchase is completed, do I have to go to my Norton product, open up the interface screen and then click check subscription? Or click help? Or both?
  1. I am getting a multi license renewal. A family member is currently using on of my current licenses on this product. When I renew the license, do I have to do the same process on their PC ( click check subscription or click help)

Yes you can renew, but remember that renewals with Norton are usually more expensive than just purchasing a new product.
  2. I am not sure about the renewal process. I am thinking I open my Norton product and then click the renew button. That should take me to my Norton account. And there I find my renewal option, place my order then pay. And it should confirm my purchase?
That sounds correct. Just be sure that you do not have Auto Renewal set up for that subscription, or you might end up with double renewal.
  3. Then after my purchase is completed, do I have to go to my Norton product, open up the interface screen and then click check subscription? Or click help? Or both?
You should not need to do anything in your client(s). After restarting your computer after the renewal should sync automatically and show the new days remaining. If not, you can go to Help - Subscription Status to force the sync.
  4. I am getting a multi license renewal. A family member is currently using on of my current licenses on this product. When I renew the license, do I have to do the same process on their PC ( click check subscription or click help)
As long as their product is showing the correct subscription days before the renewal, it too should automatically pick up the renewal automatically.

As an aside.  As long as you have updated your NIS to 22.10.1.10 it is functionally the same as the new Norton Security line of products. You might just as well look for a deal on a new Norton Security Deluxe. This would also allow you to protect up to 5 devices including any mobile devices.

Re: Norton INTERNET Security renewal questions

Thanks peter.

Interestingly when I renewed, after I entered all my info it showed it was processed. How ever, it seemed to indicate I put an incorrect password in. Strange since I logged into my norton account without an issues. I had to confirm that I did indeed place the order. I thought that was very odd. Not sure what password they were talking about.

but at this time it shows that I have 368 days and its active. I guess they dont start the new subscription until after the old one ends? (I didnt have auto renewal on)

Re: Norton INTERNET Security renewal questions

If you were purchasing a renewal directly from Norton, the days are added to your new subscription time. From your post, 368 days would say to me that you had 2 days remaining on the old subscription when you processed the renewal.

You might want to check your Norton Account again to make sure that Auto Renewal is still off. It is possible that in the fine print somewhere, you were told it would be active after your purchase. Norton tends to use on as the default for that setting.

Re: Norton INTERNET Security renewal questions

well after my renewal in Sept 2016 I made sure i turned off automatic renewal. I know that was the case since I received an email warning me that my product will not auto renew.

(BTW I have turned off auto renewal after my current  2017 purchase.)

So I am not sure why I had to confirm my purchase because of an incorrect password.  I am just curious as to what that is about and what is meant by incorrect password.

It concerns me because what if I didnt check this? would my purchase not have been completed?
