Norton Premium Utiities Service date

Hello

I am a Nortons 360 Premium user and just upgraded to Utilities Premium yesterday 6th July 2022. (6/7/22) after getting a lot of prompts to do it

Near the same time a Nortons message ( which looked legit) saying the PC was compromised and change the password.

The utilities seemed to go ok , but in the  screen after it runs  it says service date expires 1/1/2050 which seems strange as my 360 Premium expires in 2023.  I have attached the snippy.

What was also strange the backup codes were renewed on 6/7/22 . I dont recall doing that. So I changed password and refreshed codes.

Nothing has been charged to my Credit Card.

Should I be worried?

 The Norton Utilities noted in SoulAsylum's post was the older Norton Utilities version 16. The precursor to the Premium version, which now seems to be getting replaced by the Ultimate version. 

Subscription is up for renewal Feb 2023, so I assume from your comment, Free utilities will stop then and be treated as paid renewal.

That is correct. But I'm not sure you would still be able to renew the Premium version of NU. You may have to upgrade to the Ultimate version.

Hello Paul. My first question is, where are you downloading NU Premium from? NU Premium is no longer supported by Norton per this article. Are you following this guide to download and install the product?

How many days do you have left on your current 360 subscription, and do you have Automatic Renewal enabled for that subscription?

Norton used to offer the free subscription to Norton Utilities Premium, NUP, when you enabled Automatic Renewal for 360. This offer is no longer available, but if you purchased/renewed your 360 subscription just before Norton stopped this offer, your subscription may still get the benefit of this free offer. If this is the case, that is why you see the NUP subscription expiring in 2050. Norton had to plug in a date for the interface to display. But because the initial offer was not to expire, they chose a date far in the future.

Just be aware that if the above scenario for your 360 subscription renewal dates is what you have, when your subscription renews next time, the free NUP will not longer work. Even if you still have Automatic Renewal enabled.

Thank you. Explains a lot. Yes I renewed Jan 2021 and had Automatic renewal activated. I forgot the Utilities Premium incentive was given at same time. My Norton history emails confirmed I was offered Utilities download inJan 2021 but obviously didnt download at time.This now makes sense about extended date to 2050 as you mentioned. So its interesting Nortons were still offering the prorata charge of Utilities, probably due to fact I hadnt downloaded. But when I did attempt to download, it  didnt take any payt and obviously the freebie kicked in.

The other issue I mentioned whilst doing this it stated the site was compromised and to change passsword. I couldnt work out why backup codes had been refreshed that day. I changed password and refreshed codes and all looks ok for now. I had other screens opened at same time. So I am not sure if the above issue is related .

Thanks for your input. The thread you sent indicates Norton Utilities is no longer supported. However I checked I definitely have Norton Utilities Premium (NUP) version   which was offered when I renewed in Jan 2021 as long as I kept auto renewal on. THis software has now  downloaded ok.

Indeed its still available if auto-renew remains intact. Once that is removed it can no longer be downloaded within the Norton account. Guru peterweb explains the 2050 date perfectly.

Thanks Peterweb...yes I am now getting prorata incentives to upgrade to Ultimate but I note Premium version is still being marketed.

Anyway a lot clearer now ..thankyou
