Norton Quick Scan and Auslogics Defrag

Norton Security Suite's Quick Scan continues to fail to properly recognize file system exclusions, and improperly detects Auslogic's Disk Defrag as a potentially unwanted program.    Autoprotect and On Demand scans of the same folder being detected by the Quick Scan do NOT detect any PUA threat within the Auslogic Defrag folder even without any file system exclusions being set, so it is clearly a defect in the Quick Scan's unique set of virus signatures themselves.

Norton also does NOT detect the installer as a threat, and I verified with Sysinternal's Autoruns, and Process Explorer that there are no scheduled tasks or background processes owned by Auslogic running at the time the Quick Scan's false detection occurs.   I have also verified that there is no attempt to install Boost Speed (or any other 3rd party application) being made in by the current Auslogic Defrag installer or the installed application itself.

I understand that I can exclude the PUA detection signature itself, but the false detection of Auslogic's defrag as a PUA during a Quick Scan still needs to be addressed by Symantec, because it is a defect in its own software that improperly infers that Auslogic's Disk Defrag could pose a threat, when clearly it is not.

I am sure that Symantec would not appreciate other vendors falsely detecting its own programs as PUA's, so I hope to see this promptly resolved.

If you believe Norton made a mistaken detection, you may submit a dispute at. https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/.

Re: Norton Quick Scan and Auslogics Defrag

It needs to be submitted as a product defect and not a false positive (which others have already done), because the detection only occurs during a quick scan, and does not occur during a full scan, on demand scan, or Autoprotect scan, so the problem is not with the normal antivirus signatures, but rather a problem with the unique signatures used only by the quick scan, which will not be addressed by submitting a normal SARC submission.

Development needs to address the problem.
