Norton Safe Search verification of a wordpress.com site

I am unable to do the verification of my website www. lancashirepast .com. It is a wordpress.com website, so I cannot upload an HTML file or add a meta tag, as neither of these work with wordpress.com. The site needs to be manually verified by Norton. This seems to be a common problem discussed on this forum, and the only solution seems to be to appeal to Norton directly. At the moment the site is being labeled as 'Suspect' because it is a new site. It's actually a site that has been in existence for two years (as lancashirepast.wordpress.com) but I have recently upgraded it  by buying the domain name from wordpress. They still host the site- nothing has changed, except the Norton rating. Since then Norton has labeled the site as "suspect" (because it is new) and put up a warning page before you go to it, which will obviously not help me to attract traffic !

Please could you do a manual rating of www. lancashirepast .com for Norton Safe Search

I will notify the Safe Web Team of your issue. Please place the meta tag any where on the home page. However, to get a scam report, it has already been verified. I think your site has to be whitelisted in order to remove that caution warning. I just went to look at the site and I saw the scam warning. If you ask for personal information that is what happens. However, since it's the weekend now, the Team won't be around until Sunday night, Eastern Daylight Savings Time here in the USA.

Thanks for your reply. There is not the facility to place the meta tag on the home page on  a wordpress.com website. The only place to put it would be as published text, in  a blog post. But this doesn't work- I've tried it and the verification process fails. Reading the norton community forum threads on this topic, the only solution is to get Norton to manually verify the website.

If the Safe Web Team could do this for me, that would be great. But as of the moment, this is still an ongoing problem.

To get your site rated in Safeweb, Kindly request you to add the safeweb meta tag into your Web site's home page as a plain text as visible to the public and inform us, so that we can manually verify your site. Once we verify it, you can remove the safeweb metatag from your homepage.

I've put the safeweb meta tag in plain text on the 'about' page, which I've now set as the home page. The tag is the fifth paragraph down on the about/home page.

Thanks floplot and Cops for resolving this matter.

The solution was two fold: one was to put the site on to the white list to stop the  scam warning insight popping up, which you have done. The second part was getting a Norton employee to manually verify the ownership of the site in safeweb.norton.com. It would perhaps be helpful for other people who use a blog from wordpress to tell them that this is the only way to get their sites verified, as the guidelines for doing it yourself as outlined on the norton verification process does not work.

Have you registered your website with the Safe Web site? Once you get your Meta Tag by email, you will have to place it any where on your home page where I can see it. Once I can check it out, then I can notify the Safe Web Team to manually verify ownership and have it rated. Please follow the instructions  on this site.

Spaces are put into the name of the link just in case it's a malicious link so that no one can click on the link. At the current time, we don't know if it's malicious or not.

Since I could see the Meta Tag on your site, I will submit your link to the Safe Web Team. Please check back to this thread on Tuesday night after midnight EDT for a response back from the Safe Web Team. They will verify ownership and evaluate the website.
