Norton safe web and old norton toolbar

Hi everyone,

I have norton installed on two pc's, three weeks ago i got a message from norton toolbar in chrome on one pc saying it's no longer supported and so it installed norton safe web for me, on the other pc running win10 with the same chrome version the old norton toolbar is still working fine and i have yet to receive the message that its no longer supported. Is this normal, are there other people like me then as of now november 11 still using the old toolbar.

Any comments are appreciated

Aaron

Re: Norton safe web and old norton toolbar

Have you checked the version of Chrome on both computers. If you have the latest version of Chrome, it has not supported the older Norton Toolbar extension for some time now.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thanks for the quick response, yes the chrome version of the pc still using the old norton toolbar is up to date to just a couple of days ago.

Re: Norton safe web and old norton toolbar

See this announcement about the changes in Chrome for the Norton Toolbar. Note this part of the announcement.

To ensure everything will function normally in the next coming month it is important to update any security products that you accessed directly from the Norton Toolbar to the new extensions.

That means all extensions such as Identity Safe (now Norton Password Manager), Safe Web, and Safe Search extensions all need to be updated. And the Norton Toolbar extension should be uninstalled to avoid any possible conflicts.

Re: Norton safe web and old norton toolbar

Hi Aaronfr,

Yes its normal.

Probably your Chrome Norton tool bar extension is still not updated to show this message.

To see the Chrome Norton Tool Bar not supported pop-up, please go to Chrome Settings -> More tools -> Extensions -> Click "Update" button at the top of the extension page.
