Norton Safe Web verification

Our hosting provider does not allow root access to our site, www.vtgiftscatalog.com . Is there another verification method available so that we may get our site tested? The hosting company suggested that adding a script to the default.html page may be a viable alternative method.Message Edited by VTGiftsCatalog on 11-03-2009 07:37 AM

Re: Norton Safe Web verification

Hi VTGiftsCatalog,

Please follow the instructions for the meta tag method (the alternative method) in Phil_D's post over here.

http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=78973#M78973

Once you have placed the meta tag in your website, please notify us of this step, and I will ask Phil_D to ensure that your meta tag is properly placed. Since this method does not allow for the automated verification process, someone from the Safe Web Team will be notified once your meta tag has been checked.

Your Norton Ladybug.

Re: Norton Safe Web verification

Hello VTGiftsCatalog,

The URL you listed is currently unreachable and a search for vtgiftscatalog shows that domain name as being unregistered.

Would you be kind enough to provide the correct address?

Thanks!

Re: Norton Safe Web verification

My apologies for the slow reply; our internet was out nearly all day.

The website URL is http://www.vermontgiftscatalog.com/ , oops. I believe I have properly added the meta tag.

Thanks to both of you for your help.

Re: Norton Safe Web verification

Hello VTGiftsCatalog,

I can see the nortonsw meta tag you added, however it is located in the body section of your home page and not in the head section. When viewing the source code, this meta tag should be located between <head> and </head>.

I have also noticed a few other discrepancies that you might want to check. I will send you more detail via a Private Message. Look for the    icon in the upper right corner of any forum page.

I shall notify the Safe Web team who will check for your authentication code. They may be able to gather the required information from the current meta tag, but to prevent any delays, it might be beneficial to see if you can get this new meta tag up into the head section.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Re: Norton Safe Web verification

The meta tag appears to be in the proper place, finally. :)  I have also begun to correct some of the discrepancies you pointed out. Thanks again for all of your help, it is much appreciated.
