%20 is code for a space and I've seen this kind of error come up when I've copied a link to somewhere that is in a website and then clicked on the copied link with the sort of result you report.
I think it comes from the link in the original webpage only being valid when you are on that web site page because it is not a real external link.
If I go back to the source page then that link works.
In other words I don't think it is anything to do with the safety of your installation.
But I don't use Chrome so ......
Are you saying it's in the Chrome address box? What happens if you delete it where you see it?
