Norton Security 7.6 for MAC "Security at Risk" and "Fix now"

Friday March 2, I experienced the same issue.  My issue was with the Comcast version 7.6 for MAC (OS High Sierra 10.13.3) I came home from work and my son told me that Norton had not updated all day and the "Fix Now" was needed.  I did the fix now and the green check mark went off and "Security at Risk" was on.  I did a live update and it did nothing.  I then did a complete clean uninstall and reinstall.  The reinstall did not correct the problem as the "Fix Now" and "Security at Risk" was on also with an x instead of the check mark.  So I did a live update again and after 2 hours of waiting for this to resolve, and no solution from Norton at the time, I did a force quit, did another complete clean uninstall - and since I had no money to lose, I purchased (for the first time since 2011) an antivirus solution from a different company and have had no problems since with the different AV solution.  I experienced live update issues and other glitches throughout 2017 with the Comcast version of Norton.  At one point, I temporarily used a free solution until the issues with Norton was resolved (at the time I had High Sierra 10) and then installed the free solution and then reinstalled the Comcast version once the issues were fixed by Norton.  Because of some frequent, but still inconsistent issues with Norton during the end of 2017 and now in early 2018, I am no longer finding it viable to uninstall Norton and use a free temporary program until the Norton issue(s) are fixed, which is the reason I decided to go with another company.  I know Norton has been around a long time and I have no disrespect for the product, it just is inconsistent when it comes to working properly.

LBA, I totally agree with your assessment.  It is something Symantec needs to dig deeper into and figure out what is going on.  My issues were with High Sierra 10.13.3 for MAC.  I went an entire day with no updates and "Security at Risk" and "Fix now"  A clean uninstall and re-install did nothing.  I spent over 2 hours waiting for the Live Update to work after a re-install but all it did was time out with the same errors.  I was using Norton for MAC (Comcast Version).  I decided after nothing working to fix the issue and waiting to see if it fixed itself, which it didn't, I purchased an AV solution from another company with a one year subscription and have had no issues with this other solution since my install last Friday.  I won't say which one out of respect for Symantec and Norton.  Hopefully Symantec can figure out the issues.  For what it's worth, June through December Norton (Comcast version) was having issues, so I uninstalled it and used a free solution, then took a chance on giving Norton (Comcast Version) another chance.  My main reason for now using a different solution and planning to stick with it is I don't want to keep uninstalling and reinstalling antivirus programs on my MAC, have my MAC unprotected and wait for Symantec to find or not find a more immediate solution since they don't seem to have one.

Re: Norton Security 7.6 for MAC "Security at Risk" and "Fix now"

Hi flopflot:

I am not using two different antivirus programs at the same time.  I do however, have MalwareBytes, but it is the free edition that is not real time protection - only a manual update and manual scan.  Prior the the issue, I had been using MalwareBytes free edition with no real time protection and manual scanning.  I am currently using the same free MalwareBytes program (no real time protection, etc.) with the AV solution I purchased from another company and everything is running smoothly.  I am confident this is not an issue with MalwareBytes as other users that only have Norton (nothing else) are experiencing the same issues.  I appreciate your response.   I will be curious to find out what Symantec figures out when they do come up with the root cause of this problem.
