Norton Security and Windows Defender on Windows 10

HI all,

After installing Norton Security I always receive this error code using Windows Update: Windows Defender – KB2267602 (definizione 1.225.2575.0) - Errore 0x80070643

This error is related to Windows Defender that is not enable and not disable at all , the application is in CRITICAL state , the service WinDefend is STOPPED but I could do nothing, Enable it or Disalble the automatic launch.

Anyone has this problem or a solution ?

I prefer avoid to uninstall Norton Security but maybe this is the only solution.

Thanks to all !

Re: Norton Security and Windows Defender on Windows 10

When Norton was installed Defender was suppose to shutdown but lately it does not always work properly.

Here is a way to turn it off without re-installing Norton and hoping it works.

I have used Option 2 and downloaded the reg files and it has worked. If you have Windows 10 Pro then Option 1 will be available but not in Windows 10 Home.

You may have to do a restart for the change to take effect.

You may want to download the reg file to turn Defender back on if needed in the future.

I have both of those saved just incase.

You may want to join that tenformums site as it has great information and great people that help with problems.  I am Phone Man over there also.

Re: Norton Security and Windows Defender on Windows 10

Hello everybody, i had troubles with my Norton product similar as mentioned here and only after doing a scan with microsoft "autorun" tool, i i saw that important parts of my Norton were missing, and norton could for months not work well without i was able to notice at first glance I searched on this problem and found elswere on this forum somebody who noticed the same thing after having done an autorun scan. This indeed had to do with (nearly sure) with defender behaving differently than it should, but there is more to it, even after installing the regfiles, or even when defender is not visibly switched on like it was a while on my computer, it prevents norton to work corrently or to reinstall itself because essential files are missing and its not visible in rapports of norton or any other systemscan i did ! I wondered how settings of defender were in task library after having installed the reg files, because the autorun scan showed similar norton problems on my second computer without defender being swiched on, (maybe good to check for who used the reg solution too), and if settings for Norton in task library for who upgraded to windows 10 last year, were also still for the operating system before windows 10 installed on the same computer like i saw in my case. Only after swithing remaining part of defender in task library and while changing the settings of all programs after a full year to windows 10 (should be automatically i find with an upgrade), suddenly norton woke up and started to uninstall and reinstall itself .....the advise i got on this forum to do manually, norton did automatically while changing task library setting for defender (and norton to windows 10) Here is the complete posting history elswere on this forum, the explenation of other people can maybe better clarify the problem in proper English and i wrote a long story there too ....:) https://community.norton.com/en/forums/registry-entries-naveng-navex15-i... Who feels like scanning the Autorun tool to check if all parts of Norton are present to make it work correctly can find the tool on microsoft to download, any comment on this or info on settings in tasklibrary of defender norton or windows os versions and others is very wellcome, would like to be sure what went wrong and if this is a general problem or something that i did wrong or specific for my computer HP, ect .... https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902 sorry for my not so well English, kind greetings from Belgium
