Norton Security with Backup

I have deduced that Norton 360 is going away. I guess you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure that out.  BUT, it is not clear to me that Norton Security w/backup will let you backup to local devices as well as online like Norton 360 does.  I was on a chat with support and the person I was chatting with said you could not but I was not overly impressed with this person's knowledge during this chat.  So,

1. Does Norton Security w/backup let you create backup sets to local devices like flash drives and external hard drives?

2. Does anyone know where I can buy Norton 360 besides through Norton?

Thanks

Re: Norton Security with Backup

1. Yes you can back up to a local or external drives. As long as Windows can see a drive letter you can back up to it.

2. You can only search for reputable retailers to see if they have any copies of 360 left. Another option is to look for a good price on Norton Security with Backup. That would be the product to replace 360, and you will have the ability to install on up to 10 devices. If you really want, you could use the key for NSBU to renew your 360.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Ipleb,

Perhaps this article can help you (page 5, paragraph one> Local and Online Backup):

Re: Norton Security with Backup

Thanks for your response.  How do you know I can use the NS w/BU key to renew N360?  If that is true then can I use it to renew 10 licenses even if my N360 only had 5 licenses?  I really do not mind switching to Norton Security with Backup but I need to backup to local drives/devices as well.  Another user sent a link to PCMag that states I can do that.

Again, thanks for your input.

Re: Norton Security with Backup

Thanks for your reply.  I read the article and feel that answers my question.  The backup feature is important to me and I didn't want to switch to a non-Norton product...especially Windows Backup.  Thanks again!

Re: Norton Security with Backup

Here is a link from Symantec employee Tony Weiss that helps explain the licensing.  https://community.norton.com/en/comment/6512481#comment-6512481

If you use the key to activate your 360 product, you will only get the original 5 users. If you want the 10 users, you need to upgrade to the new Norton Security with Backup product.

And as I stated, you can backup locally with the new product.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton Security with Backup

I only see the C: and D: drive, but I want the backup on my F: drive (= external disc)

Re: Norton Security with Backup

FreddyvP,

Do have the external drive connected prior to opening the backup settings?

Re: Norton Security with Backup

I have solved the problem. There was a problem with the external drive, which has now been solved. I can now make the backup. Thanks for your help.
