Norton Security with Backup

I had Norton technical support help me get my backup done. I thought it was stalling out (I was using the default set), however, it was just a LOT of stuff. I did not realize it - it took almost 24  hours. Well, it appears the support guy - who was very good btw- directed the back up to my hard drive. (It was more than the 25 GB that Norton has in the cloud for subscribers.) So, can I delete that backup (the default set)?  Is it doubling the amount of used space on my computer?  If I delete it with the files, will it affect my files on my computer. I have set up another backup set that is JUST my documents and music. That's all I really wanted to back up. I think this backup was my entire computer! I guess like a mirror backup? I just don't want to lose space. I am on Windows 10 (garbage btw) and can't get to very much because the start menu and Cortiana does not work! I can't even get to my computer to check the available space. (Win10 is trash) I cant even find the backup that is on my hard drive (Hate Win10)

Re: Norton Security with Backup

By default the norton backup will only backup things in your documents folder (Music, Video, Pictures, Office Documents, Emails and Other files). It does not backup the entire content of your hard drive. My suggestion, if you are going to backup that many files, I suggest storing it on an external hard drive. Backing it up on your Drive C: kind of defeats the reason why you're backing up the first place. If your Drive C gives out, you'll loose your backups as well. To check your hard drive space in Windows 10, go to Start > File Explorer. It should show a list of icons with the name of your computer. Click on that Icon and it will display your available storage. You should see your Local Disk C: there. Right click on it and select properties. It should show you how much space you have left.

Re: Norton Security with Backup

Thanks, and I did find my available storage. I don't know why the Norton tech set it to my hard drive, but I will move it off. Thanks for the response.
