Norton Security deluxe and Catalina - issues

I have trouble having Norton Security deluxe work properly with Catalina. It downloads and installs properly after restart, but when starting up the computer again after some time (not restarting), Norton consistently again ask me to press the "allow" button at the bottom of the security and privacy panel, and then for full disc access - although all this has been done. Norton can also directly ask for restart to have these settings work, although all seems fine to me in the s&p - panel. Repeatedly reinstalling Norton does not save the problem. However, Norton seems to work properly, so I now just shut down the window that appear on the screen where Norton asks for access and restart. What can be done?

Re: Norton Security deluxe and Catalina - issues

Hi Bjørn Arne Øvrebø,

Sorry for the trouble caused. Can you please confirm if Full Disk Access is enabled for Norton System Extension in system preferences ? Go to System Preferences - Security and Privacy and select Full Disk access - select Norton System Extension and choose later if prompted for Quit Norton.

Re: Norton Security deluxe and Catalina - issues

The problem seems to be Catalina wanting all outside programs to come through the App section. Thus when 10.15.1 comes out (which is currently in testing by Apple community) it may resolve the problem. Add to this that Catalina wants all programs to be 100% 64-bit to function on it which they did not make clear to the Beta community. I've read Mac related MSM's that there are currently over 230 vendors having issues with Catalina, so Norton is not alone. Some sites have stated there is a hidden fix already in 10.15 where one would need to revert to their previous OS and then download a new copy of 10.15.

That was useful, thanks! I have also seen some other comments around citing multiple issues with Catalina.
