'Norton Security has Stopped'

My Norton Mobile Security keeps showing a small window which says that Norton has stopped and it offers to continue or close the app. It does this, for example, if I wanted to open a link in a pdf being displayed on my tablet. It doesn't seem to be anything to do with Link Guard - instead, it seems like a bug of some description.

If anyone is familiar with this behaviour and has the solution, it would be much appreciated if you would advise.

Thank you.

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

What tablet are you using, and what Android version?

Have you restarted the tablet?

Is it only links in pdf's? Have you tried clicking links on web pages, or known safe emails?

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

I'm having same problem with my Motorola Z Droid Force. There is no specific chain of events. It seems to happen randomly. Android version 7.1.1, and the phone has been restarted and soft reset.

Go into NMS, and tap the three bars at the top left. Scroll down and tap App Settings, then scroll down again to the Logging settings. Turn on Enable Debug Log. Use your device and try to reproduce the Norton has Stopped message.

After your create the issue, go back to the Debug log section. Turn off the log setting and tap on Send Error Report with Log Files. In the report information, use your forum username for the case ID, and include a description of the problem and also a link to this thread.

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

Hello, I also have the same issue. It is very random (no time in particular), and maybe once a day. However, today it did coincide with a location alarm being triggered (Norton mobile seems to do this every day). Android 7, Samsung phone. Andrew

Can you also send your debug logs as noted in my last post?

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

Hello, this is also happening to me now for 7 days with Norton Mobile Security. I have tried uninstall and re-install the app, without success...the same results. It is happening often and every other app seems to be affected????

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

I renewed my NMS on 3/5/18. I have the NMS version 4.0.1.4039. I receive popup messages stating that NMS has stopped working click to either wait on the app or close the app. In the past 3 days it has stopped working 7 times and slows down my Android phone regardless of the app or website I'm using at the time.

What device are you using and what Android version?

Have you checked that you have the Device Administrator setting turned on for NMS? Open NMS and tap the three bars at the top left of the screen. Scroll down to App Settings, then scroll down to the Device Administrator setting.

I don't know how to save a screenshot of the issue history of NMS. So, I copied the text and saved that. I have attached that file.

You still did not note what device you are using and what Android version?

There is a new version of Norton Mobile Security just released.  4.1.0.4053. Try updating NMS and testing to see if it resolves the issue.  See announcement here.    https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/norto...

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

I have NMS version 4.1.0.4053 installed. This weekend I uninstalled NMS, downloaded and reinstalled this version. Nothing changed. I have a Samsung J7 (2016) Android version 7.1.1. My software and security software are all up to date. I don't know what else to do. I read all the comments on this thread before I replied earlier today.

Re: 'Norton Security has Stopped'

For those still seeing this issue.  Open the NMS app and tap the three bars at the top left. Tap on App Settings, and scroll down to the Logging section. Turn on Enable Debug Log. Then continue using your device until NMS stops again. After it stops and you are able to restart it, go back to the Debug Log setting and turn it off, then tap on Send Error Report with log files. In your submission include your forum user name and a link to this thread.
