I just got done dealing with Norton Chat. Security for Windows 10 is ready weeks before the next release. Security for Mac may not have a fix until weeks after the official release is out. my suggestion is to contact Norton through every means and let them know that we want this fixed. I would have expected them to be a part of the developer program so they could start getting their next version ready for the next OS X before the release, just like they are doing with windows. We are vulnerable until then. if enough people contact them, they might resolve these issues faster, in order to keep us as loyal customers.
I downloaded and executed the application "removeSymantecMacFiles" from the Symantec web site (sorry, I forgot to save the URL, just search on the name). This works better than using the NS Uninstall (uninstall leaves several files behind).
Then I went to my Norton account and (re)downloaded the latest version of the Norton Security Install files ("Install Norton Security.app" V6.2f85). I then downloadedand installed the GM (Gold Master) version of El Capitan (from the Mac App Store app, select the Purchased tab. Should be at or near the top - OS X El Capitan GM Candidate).
I first installed El Capitan, restarted. THEN installed NS, restarted, performed a Live Update and restarted again. It's been about four days and everything appears to be working flawlessly.
Support for OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) is imminent. Norton Security client release 6.4 has been published. Patchers for anyone running v 6.3 we expect to post approx Sept 28th, a few days before the GA of El Capitan (expected Sept 30th).
When I installed on my iMac which had the beta version of Sierra on it, Norton killed it! Messages stating incompatible with MacOS came up, but could not stop the installation. The MAC ran so slowly after it was unusable, and had to completely reinstall the OS after manually deleting Norton files letf behind. What is th time line for ensuring your product is colatible with Sierra?
