Starfire,
Try a reboot with Fast Start disabled, run LiveUpdate until it responds no Updates found and then go to More Norton square and see if Norton Studio is present.

The Norton icon is not coming up. Earlier it came up but nothing worked and it was mostly empty and said Coming Soon. I can't tell if I'm protected or not and can't do Live Updates. scans or anything. The Norton is empty except Coming Soon and at top Settings, History Etc. but doesn't work.

I tried the Norton remove and reinstall tool downloaded from the norton website it failed with an error, no error code just a message it failed. It said I could remove it..manually but it didn't give an option to reinstall. Windows 10 home version 1703, os 15063.483. Is may data at risk? do I need to shut down?
Posted: 13-Jul-2017 | 11:05AM · Permalink
I called Norton tech and he told me to restart computer (not shut down) and then wait 10 minutes before clicking on Norton icon. It worked as everything is normal now. I thought it might be from Windows update I installed yesterday. I did a restart after the updates were installed but evidently it didn't completely work.
I have windows 10 64 bit.
While the icon wasn't working I noticed Live Update and scans worked.

Hello Holly & quotes
Please turn off Fast Startup. Turning it off helps Norton as well as other programs to work better and helps to install updates better.
Here is a link for turning off Fast Startup in Windows 10

Hope it helps. Thanks.

I still have the problem. I will gladly provide the logs you want, if you'll walk me through which one(s) you want. But in the meantime, what's the right way for me to fix this?

I received the message with the link for the log gathering download.
I followed the instructions, but could not recreate the "Coming Soon" screen I've been plagued with for 2 solid days.
Just downloading the log gathering file and running it seems to have fixed the problem, at least for now.
I did go ahead and try to recreate several times. For troubleshooting, I wish it had actually done it again for you guys. But for me, I'm very grateful that my Norton appears to be functioning again.
Thank you.

Thanks for the update, @Linda In Phoenix. In most cases a system restart would fix the issue. Please let us know if you encounter this issue again.
Posted: 14-Jul-2017 | 9:28AM · Permalink
I had already done several system restarts over 2 days, and they didn't help.
Newest update---I no longer have the "coming soon" screen, but, and I can update successfully.
But....now when I try to run any kind of scan, nothing whatsoever happens.
And, if I click on "Settings", nothing happens there either.
So not everything is functioning as it should.
Continued assistance desired please. Thank you!

So glad your people are already working on it.
Let me know if I can provide anything else.
Thank you.

A Norton tech I called said to wait 10 minutes after the restart is finished before clicking on the Norton icon, and it worked completely. This was on a Windows 10 64 bit computer. Another person on the forum with the same problem and had Windows 10 64 bit tried this after reading my comment, and it worked for him too.
Call the Norton tech phone number as the tech I talked to knew right away what to do.

Hi,
Over the past few days on 3 separate laptops the Norton taskbar icon has failed to open Norton, and opening it via my Desktop shortcut I don't get the normal Norton stuff I get a predominantly white Norton window with "Coming Soon" in the top half and "You are protected" in the lower half. What on earth is this? What's "Coming Soon"?
(Note that I already am at the latest version of NS and fully up-to-date btw and the only way I've found of getting this back to normal is switching fast startup off and rebooting the laptops. Windows 10 Creators Update, also bang up-to-date.)
Thanks,
David

Thanks bjm_ never spotted that but judging by all the comments in there... boy, what a startlingly stupid thing for Norton to have done, I just thought Norton was broken; they need a new Marketing dept.
Also btw the latest update seems to have slowed things down by the looks, though I can see that battering along in another thread, so not just me then...
Thanks,
David

Wow. I'd have said the 4th bullet was fairly fundamental. Dodgy testing by the looks to have missed that.
We'll be expecting a patch along soon then...

Earlier, I posted here about the coming soon message, I was told to restart, not shut down wait about 10 min then try it...Whatever was wrong appeared to be fix.. As of this AM its back like a bad memory. what is going on at Norton? Any new news?
Posted: 17-Jul-2017 | 12:56PM · Permalink
I may be wrong about this, but I think the restart and wait 10 minutes is a workaround you will have to do every time you start your computer. Until the fix is in place.

Now, on this one, for me anyway, switching off Fast Start actually DID cure that bit. Might be coincidence but if so the coincidence happened and fixed it on multiple laptops.
So, if you have it switched on might be worth a birl switching it off just to see...?!
Cheers,
David

Ok well why should we have to fix anything? Norton needs to fix the CODE! Get a fix out there for the community that PAID to use their product. This has been out there since 7/4.... 2 weeks ago and no fix yet. How about we all tell Norton to FIX the code and put a patch out there for the bad code
Posted: 17-Jul-2017 | 1:44PM · Permalink
I can't disagree with that! I'd get the sack if I put out a release with key upfront things so evidently broken like that. Again, evidence of highly dodgy testing and smacks of a pointy haired person determined to get a release out kind of thing.
Anyway, that fast startup thing did fix a bit of it for me so while we're waiting it's perhaps worth a go to try and switch out of Victor Meldrew mode.
Years ago I gave up with Kaspersky when it mutated into a hobby with so many things constantly breaking. Beginning to think Norton's currently going the same way. I very much hope not. They need some new pointy haired folk by the looks and a brighter Marketing department that doesn't put out stupid Coming Soon messages that make you think the product is broken. When something's working well stop "improving" it!
