Norton Security not compatible with Vista Home Premium

I have tried to install the trial version of Norton Security on my Vista Home Premium operating system. I received an error message stating it is not compatible with this computer's operating system. However, all Windows updates are installed. Service Packs 1 & 2 are installed.  Run for  this...compatibility is unchecked.  What's next?

How did you try to install NS
1) Over the top of another Norton product
2) Clean install
3) What security product are / were you running
4) Did you download the Trial to your Admin account desktop and run the installer from the desktop with your Vista box as quiet as possible.

Re: Norton Security not compatible with Vista Home Premium

Could you provide the error number/message? That might shed some light on what exactly the problem is.

- Did you download it from your Norton account?

- Try to uninstall any other security software you may have on the computer.

- If you have an older Norton product installed, try uninstalling it first (though it shouldn't matter since NS can detect older Norton products like Norton Internet Security, Norton 360 and Norton Antivirus and uninstall it for you).

Quoting : " Did you download it from your Norton account? " . . . . . Your product get assigned to your account only after registration at the end of installation or you buy from Norton store.

Re: Norton Security not compatible with Vista Home Premium

Tried installing on a wiped computer. I basically re-installed Vista with a clean slate. There are no other security/anti-virus programs installed.  I downloaded the trial version from Norton.com  No actual error number code. Just the "this version is not compatible with your operating system...your vista needs to have service pack 1 or higher."  I have 1 & 2.  Glad I tried it before paying.

Re: Norton Security not compatible with Vista Home Premium

Hi viken12:

If you go to Control Panel | System (or Start | Computer | Properties) can you see Service Pack 2 in the Windows Edition section?  If you scroll down to Windows Activation, does it report "Windows is activated" and is your product key entered correctly in the Product ID area?

Re: Norton Security not compatible with Vista Home Premium

I think it's working on this platform. You may follow the installation guide or something.

But highly suggest to use latest one
