Norton Security not for Developers

I have many programs that I developed using VB6 and WinBatch. Norton seems to think that these are bad and deletes them. This is especially bad when you copy them from a backup disk to another backup disk only to have Norton delete the new copy. Unaware that Norton chose to delete these file,  you have done a Secure Erase of the files on the old disk. Sometimes files are removed from my original backup device.

Norton needs a developer option where NO files are ever deleted, but are put into something like a DelQuarantine list. It is definitely not safe for Developers to use Norton unless they change the dates to the original dates before the copy. It may not even be safe then.

What are my safe options other than stop using Norton?

What you need to do is create a master folder where you store all your development projects. Then exclude that folder from all scans and detections. You need to exclude the folder in both settings shown in the image below.

What Anti-Virus program do I use to protect the master folder?

It seems to me that a Developer's Quarantine is the needed solution.

If you are developing this software yourself, there should not be any malware in the excluded folders. When you are finished your app, you can copy it outside the Master folder, a Test folder maybe, and have Norton scan that to see if there are any issues.

Using the above logic, there should not be malware anywhere on my computer so there is no need for Anti-Virus software to start with.

Not quite sure how you come up with that. All other areas of your computer can be accessed by apps and Windows itself. When you connect to the internet for updates, browsing, etc, things can be added/downloaded to your computer' hard drive.

Supposedly if you have full control of the apps you are creating in the 'developer' folder, you should not be adding any malicious code.

Have you checked information on the Quarantine function already in Norton Security?
