Norton Security is pegging disk at 100% disk queue length over 50

I have Norton Security with Backup version 22.10.0.85 running on a Windows 8.1 PC.

My disk queue hits 50 and everything is grinding to a halt.  Only by disabling the startup of Norton does my PC act normal.  (msconfig and reboot)

Running task manager I see Norton Error Reporting processes starting up but I don't see anything in the logs telling me what the error is.

Running task manager really doesn't show the problem.  When I run resource monitor I can see the main culprit is nsbu.exe.  I set my backups to run once a month but still nsbu.exe is beating up the disk IO.  I set all my automated task to run once a month but still doesn't make a difference.

Re: Norton Security is pegging disk at 100% disk queue length over 50

So much for good norton support :(  The new version is horrible.   Luckily I have only 55 days left on my subscription!

Even when I turn off all the scheduled tasks Norton eventually takes over and the disk queue never stops rising and the system becomes completely unusable.  There is no doubt I will turn off automatic updates after this problem is fixed.

I have found that nsbu.exe starts processing files in the below path but there are 51558 directories in the below errmgt\queue\incoming directory.  They appear to have been created in the last couple of days.

C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55...really long uuid number....}\NSBU_22.5.4.24\ErrMgmt\Queue\Incoming>

Trying to de-install it is taking forever to go through error reports and I can't even cancel out of it.  What a fin... nightmare

Last thing I needed to do was to spend hours on my pc fixing a crappy update.

Can you post your PC specifications? Do you have the latest update of your OS and Norton? Have you tried to solve the issue in any way? Have you tried booting into Windows "Safe mode" To remove and reinstall Norton?

Why would pc specifications have anything to do with 55K of error directories (and an untold number of files in the error queue)?

It is the latest update from Norton that put me over the edge.  All the files and directories in the ErrMgmt\Queue\Incoming were created in the last 3 days.

I solved my problem by enabling the administrator account on my PC.  Manually deleting most of the 55k of files and directories in the error queue.  Letting Norton R&R remove the installation.  I had to do the manual delete as NR&R wanted to send all of the error files to Norton and it would have taken hours if not a day to finish up.

I'm done with Norton bloatware.  Moving on to something else which I'm sure will have its problems but hopefully it won't be a program that creates a 100K of error files/records and than be so thoughtful as to try and send every last one back to support.
