Norton Security Premium - error messages.

I'm in need of help or advice....again....please....

I have Norton Security Premium - with backup. On two devices don't know if it is working on my Win 7 because (Win7)  is not working - (waiting for a family member to look at it for me) I'm using my WinXP.

Over the last few days - I have received various messages, flashing on my screen - as follows...

Norton Autofix..Error 8504,104. Unable to find a fix...etc...

License Key Error - you ave exceeded the number of allowable installations....

 Norton Security with backup has encountered a problem and needs to close.

It also says that my Trial Version has expired. Doesn't seem to be able to make up it's mind what the problem is.

I have checked My Account and it shows NSP is active and expires on 2 May 2018.

I am unable to run Live Update or anything to do with NSP.

Any help would be appreciated....thank you.

Hi, indie7. Does your XP machine have SP 3 ?

System Requirements

Windows Operating Systems

  • Microsoft Windows XP (all 32-bit versions) with Service Pack 3 (SP 3) or later

If so, a reinstall might help. Using the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool will give you a fresh copy.


If used, please run Live Update manually restarting when asked until no more are found, and then restart one more time.

One other option is use the Remove option, then download a pre-activated copy from your Norton Account.

I'll try the first option...fingers crossed it will work.  I had to do this on my Win7 - back a few months ago.

From memory I think it took quite a few hours to remove and reinstall, also run Live update.

Apologies for the late reply....I have finally solved the problem I was having with my Norton Product.

I used the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool....that removed Norton however it would not reinstall a fresh copy.

I was getting various messages again....

Your Norton service was purchased from your Service Provider. Please contact your service provider for support.....this was incorrect.

Finally anther message popped up...Norton Security - subscription...Licenses Available ..

Your account has a subscription that can be used to activate this product...great I was able to activate it and now is working fine.

Lo and behold the next day I turned my computer on and a message from Norton....

Norton Security...Welcome to the New and Improved Norton...We recently streamlined your Norton Product....

Just checked the Version and it seems to be the latest (message posted 27 August) for this product...

I have downloaded the updates from LiveUpdate....lots of them.
