Norton Security Scan appears on my computer and I cannot uninstall it

Today, 4 July 2015, I noticed a lot of hard drive action and opened Task Manager (in Windows 8.1) to learn what was going on.  I then saw that Norton Security Scan was busy at work even though I didn't install it.

I tried removing it under Programs \ Features in Control Panel but the removal process stayed at 0 percent for at least 30 minutes.   I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool (after restarting my computer), ran it, but the program is still on my computer.

How can I remove this ... and is NSS part of the update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10?

Thanks, Dave Horne ...

I removed NSS from my computer but really don't know exactly what happened.

I tried yet again to remove NSS and let the uninstallation process go for about 90 minutes.  It was still at 0 percent complete after 90 minutes.

I grew tired of waiting, since nothing seemed to be happening, and opened Task Manager to shut it down (since clicking on the X in the upper right corner had no effect).  As soon as I closed it down I saw that the uninstallation process was complete.  I restarted the computer and it seems to be gone.

I suggest that the good folks at Norton come up with a solution that works better.

Thank you for your interest and information.  Seems NSS as per Norton should go quietly.  But, for most as I've read.  NSS does not go easy.  I didn't realize NSS was still around.

Re: Norton Security Scan appears on my computer and I cannot uninstall it

I should finally add here that I know how NSS was installed on my computer.  My wife earlier in the day installed Adobe Digital Edition.

When you install Adobe Digital Edition there's a bundle for getting Norton Security Scan free.  The boxed to accept is automatically checked and that's when the fun began.  She checked the NEXT button without first deselecting.

While I removed NSS, this was easy.

That's it ... I know it's the Fourth of July in the US as well as being Saturday.  I wouldn't say the problem is solved, but it's solved from my perspective.

What I meant to write was, ... While I removed NSS, this was not easy.
