Norton Snap on Android "Cannot connect to network" error.

I installed the Norton Snap app on my Android phone.  When I scan a QR code I get the message "No Internet Connection" and "Cannot connect to Norton Safe Web. No internet connection."

I have an internet connection.  I can use any other app and browsers with no issue.

What is required to make Norton Snap work?

If this is not the forum for mobile app questions, what is?

Hello Tim. Remove the app and restart the device. After reboot reinstall the app directly from the Google Play Store.

Cheers

@SoulAsylum: I followed your instructions.  Same result: "No Internet Connection".

Is there a setting somewhere on my Android phone, which is a Moto X4?

Moto devices have had trouble with apps since recent updates have been installed. Did your device recently get updated to Android 8?

A couple of threads here are from users with Moto devices.

One feature that recently got updated was Moto Display. Disabling that feature allowed the Norton products to work correctly again. Maybe worth a try.

Re: Norton Snap on Android "Cannot connect to network" error.

@peterweb: I have Android 8.1 installed.  I don't know when it was installed.

Apps seem to update almost daily, so keeping track of what got updated when is futile.

I read the links and tried disabling Moto Display and rebooted.  Still getting "Cannot connect to network" error.

Of all the apps I have that access the network, only Norton can't seem to find a connection.  It would be helpful if the app provided a useful error message, like "cannot connect to network because of X" or " change X setting to allow network access".  But, no.

On another note, I installed Norton Mobile Security.  I have licenses for my PC, and they include Mobile Security.  However, when I attempt to use the license, Mobile Security get stuck in loop constantly asking me to login (which I already am!).  Why are Norton apps so brain dead?

Are you using cell data or Wifi for your connection? If you can, try the other connection from what you normally use.

Tried both mobile network and WiFi.  "No Internet Connection".

If I paste the link into a browser, the browser always connects.

Re: Norton Snap on Android "Cannot connect to network" error.

I am checking with my Norton contacts on this issue. Looking at the app store, it appears the app has not been updated since 2016. So it obviously has not been updated for Android 8. It is possible that it has been dropped from being supported and someone forgot to remove it from the app store. It has been removed from the Apple App Store and is not longer available for IOS devices.

I'll let you know when I hear anything.

Re: Norton Snap on Android "Cannot connect to network" error.

Snap is supported and does work on Android 8.1.  I am unable to check it on a Moto 4.  From your description, it sounds like there may be a general issue with connectivity to Norton - your Mobile Security shouldn't be repeatedly asking to log in.

Do you use a vpn (any brand) or app that sets/adjusts your DNS?

@TimMackey

Are you still seeing the issue with Snap?

If so, can you check to see if there are any software updates available for your device. Moto devices did have some issues with other Norton apps that have been fixed by an update to the Moto software.
