Norton Toolbar update for Edge browser?

Hello all,

From my understanding of various things i'm reading online, Norton Identity Safe can be activated in the Edge browser, and that's fine.  However, i'm really looking to institute this toolbar:

for Edge.  Is that currently possible?  I think from what i was recently reading, the above toolbar is not available in Edge.  Any chance this might change?  I have to admit, i really dislike the Edge browser - -  just doesn't have the structure that i like from IE.  Unfortunately, i have to rely more on Edge insofar as FUNimation's videos will not play (currently) through IE version: 11.248.16299.0.

Regards,

H.B.

Hi H. B.,

I am not familiar with the FUNimation's videos, however a Google of it and using the following URL I was able to watch videos in both IE 11.248.16299.0 and also in Microsoft Edge 41.16299.248.0, Firefox 58.0.2 and Chrome 64.3282.186

Re: Norton Toolbar update for Edge browser?

AFAIK the only way to get an extension into Edge is to use the Extensions settings in the Edge browser. Checking that just now, the only Norton extension is for ID Safe. No extension, yet, for the Toolbar.

I also believe that the newer browsers are trying to get away from a toolbar method of offering extensions. I may be wrong. (I think I was wrong once before...)

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Yup ...  And with the recent Norton plugin update(s) for Chrome, it too now follows the Norton IDSafe access methods already implemented for both FireFox and Edge.

FWIW, several of the websites I regularly use do not work properly using these revised Vault implementations, for now leaving only the IE interface implementation as the last fully functional holdout (for these websites). I have already used the contact pathways provided within the updated Vault interfaces to notify the Norton support team(s) about the affected websites - But alas it normally takes numerous weeks (sometime months) for the team(s) to effect remediation for these website's "Vault Fill" compatibility issues...

Cheers!

Re: Norton Toolbar update for Edge browser?

Hi all - I can confirm there is no extension for Edge that gives the classic toolbar appearance.  Modern browser extension UI's tend toward either extension button pop-up windows, full-tab UI's, or in-page injected content and our latest Norton Identity Safe extensions make use of those methods.

@avjohnnie - thank you for reporting the fill problems on sites that are important to you and I'm sorry it has taken time to see fixes delivered to them; we are looking at ways to improve focus on these problems and deliver faster updates.

Thanks,

Matt

Peter explains,

"No extension, yet, for the Toolbar."

I thought so, thank you for confirming.  Hopefully, this will change...

Hello Yank,

Yes, some of FUN's videos can be viewed through YouTube, however, there exists an issue with their site conflicting with IE 11 and you get the following:

(Basically a screen that will not play the episode even if you hit the play button)  I have contacted their support, and, i guess they are working on a solution...

Special thanks to all who contributed on this thread.
